Ya know someone else told me that and i looked at every inch of the carb and could not find a leak. now that 2 people have said the same thing it prolly is i just dont know where. ill take some pics and post um and see if u gents can see anything. and i put a 1 inch because it was on sale and it give the car more torq and volume.. should i not be?
Dude............................ If that's the reason. pull that thing off.... Spacers are only for applications where you need clearance and have to adapt a particular carb to a different manifold, like spreadbore carbs to non-spreadbore manifold.
Like Bill said said spray something flamable like carb cleaner or something.....NOT GAS. around the manifold intake and any hose hook-up point. Make sure no hoses have cracks. Check intake to head areas for leaks. Do you have pwr brakes?
yes i do. i re did all of my space gaskets and stuff just now and put a little rtv in each gasket no good.
Disconnect the power brake boaster and plug the line, try again.
out of curiosity how would that effect it? and i know u cant see them but i mean plug wise. was trying to make sure where plugs should be there is one
Austin!!!
If you have power brakes, the diaphragm on the brake booster could be leaking and causing a vacuum leak. Given the age of the car, this is a distinct possibility! Plug the vacuum port for the brake booster at the MANIFOLD.............or pull the fitting off the line for the brake booster and stick a big enough bolt in the hose to tightly plug the hose.

ok but on that fitting i have two other lines that connect so i can only really plug that on hole. i will have pic later today
i pulled the entire manifold off and redid everything. not a big deal. put RTV Red on where the gaskets in front and back should be then i put new gaskets on the heads. i took a metal file on the manifold and it is not warped it is perfect still.. put it back on let it set for 4 hours and put everything back on.....everything it back and on right and tight and it is still doing the same SH)( so now i am going to pull the carb back off and rebuild it to see if the idle balls are not sitting or clogged.
