Have you PROPERLY adjusted the mix on the idle circuit?
If you don't understand what I just said, ya need to get a Chilton's for that year of car. and look at the tune up section. It explains it quite well.

No its not when it is at full temp. and its a manual. but i tried it both when te choke is on and off.

And i have played with the mix kept the idle a little higher to help it start easier and took the 2 screws all the way in then back out about three turns. they say thats the best place to start because its not too lean but it wont burn fuel like mad. (i think thats what your talking about. ill pay them a visit.)
