    4 barrels.

OK i will try and give as much detail.

I have received used parts in very good condition and am applying them to my 302. I am putting on a performer 289 dual plane intake manifold with a 180* thermo. On top is a 1 inch spacer with shot gun barrel holes. then the carb is an Edelbrock 600 CFM polished. i have bought the kick down levers and they are on. fuel is on and hooked up. and the idle is set to a good position not to high and not the very nickers of the carb. when i give it gas about half throttle it stay running and when i let off it dies. it wont star unless it is there. when it is it as running at high RPM. i took the carb apart and the floats move just fine.. Need help badly.

    Manual or electric choke?
Is this when it's at full temp?

Have you PROPERLY adjusted the mix on the idle circuit?
If you don't understand what I just said, ya need to get a Chilton's for that year of car. and look at the tune up section. It explains it quite well.

No its not when it is at full temp. and its a manual. but i tried it both when te choke is on and off.

And i have played with the mix kept the idle a little higher to help it start easier and took the 2 screws all the way in then back out about three turns. they say thats the best place to start because its not too lean but it wont burn fuel like mad. (i think thats what your talking about. ill pay them a visit.)

I don't have ANY of my books here in PHX. Get the Chilton's book for your car...or other car repair book. Pick up a cheap large vacuum gauge and bring the info sheet for the carb so we know which vacuum port is ported or look on line for the carb info. I can take a look at it if you can bring it to the shop tomorrow afternoon after 1.

Do you have AC on the car and does it work? I can't remember if there is a place to have a dashpot on that carb or not.

i "used" to have ac. i took the compressor out and is now in storage. i dont drive the car in the summer and so i didnt need it when i rebuilt the motor. i have no way of getting it out to your shop unfortunately and i have shop manuals for my car already they are the ford edition manuals im not sure if they would do the trick. my car was NOT a 4b in the first place so this is a whole new change.

Well........the offer stands. As long as I have some spare time, I don't mind doing it for you. ............and you might learn something at the same time.

If you want to stop by with your manuals, I might be able to show ya what sections are applicable and give ya a few tips.

Sounds like a major vacumm leak somewhere. Why are you using a 1" spacer under the carb?
