An original M1 would be either the M1 Garand or the M14, not sure what you are referring to. This is an original Sprinfield Armory M1A Scout/Squad with an 18" barrel. Much nicer that the originals anyway. Mine has match sites and match trigger from the factory. It's not supposed to, but lucky for me they installed them in order to speed up production.
