My Experience with the Zoom ZVT Stage 3

I haven't heard much about this clutch and figured that since I have it I'd give my opinon on it thus far. It's a good clutch and seems to handle the power fine. The pedal has a very soft feel, much like my previous Centerforce Dual Friction clutch. It is not an on/off clutch but does not like to be slipped at a low RPM, it will chatter and squeal. There is still some chatter if the clutch is not let out at a high enough RPM, my DF never chattered at all (I miss that clutch lol). Outside of the expected difference in driveablility (i.e chatter) my only complaint, and the one thing that drives me crazy, is the squeal it makes once it warms up. I guess a pretty good burnout will remove the glaze that forms on the clutch and causes the noise (or whatever causes it?) and this will keep the squeal from happening for a bit. I would not recommend this clutch for a street driven car, it's not that it's a bad clutch just more of a track clutch rather than a "I think i'm going to take my car for a cruise" clutch. I should have gone with the twin and will probably upgrade to one sooner than later.

I guess McLeod has a nice twin that uses the stock or an aftermarket Flywheel, which I like since I have a Fidanza flywheel and find it a bit of a waste to replace a perfectly good/new flywheel with another one, like most twins do. I may look into the Zoom twin, or maybe not spend as much and go with the Spec 3+ but i will probably invest in a twin, I can't wait to have this tranny out again!! LOL

I'm going to stick with this ZVT for as long as I can handle it.

I hope this helps someone in the future who is trying to decide on what route to go.

I have put maybe 2,000 miles on the clutch and my mods are in my sig. After about the first 750 the chatter dissipated a lot but still shows up from time to time, not nearly as bad though.

    Josh

Yea for sure- thanks for the info. I'm just finishing my 500 mile breakin on the Zoom Stage 3 clutch (which is basically a stock replacement clutch that grabbs a little faster). Overall it's not bad, with a little chatter if you don't give it enough rev's. I just need to get back down to PSR and have the Spec 3+ installed, I just haven't been around long enough to get it done!

Nice, sounds like the Stage 3 is comparable to my CF Dual Friction. No for another break in lol, hopefully you are happy with the 3+ it seems to be the best single disc clutch that can handle a ton of power and be very streetable.

I have been looking at that Ram twin a lot lately
