r12 or freeze 12, both are alot cooler than r134a. Checkers sells the kit for like 30 bucks to do the conversion. You will need a lisence to buy freeze 12, which you can still get at some places. I bought the cans for 6 dollars a piece and just kept my foxbody r12.

haha im STILL running r12 in my car and i kick the air on every once in a while. and u guys are talking about r12 like it is stilla round didnt they stop making it?

Yes r12 is rare, and very expensive. I would suggest the 134a. First you would have to find someone with r12, then have somebody with an EPA license purchase it for you.
I do have a license and can purchase it for you if needed. I also have 2 cans sitting in the garage one of my old customers gave to me, but I'll be hanging on to those.Arizona's Fastest Mach 1

imo, if 134 isnt as good as R 12, 80 degrees vs 115 degrees in your car with stop and go traffic is the real question you should ask your self.

I work in a shop and yes you can convert to 134 but you do have to change all the o rings out and get a new dryer. Just like one of the other guys in here said you cant combine the 2 and the dryer will have old r12 in it. Then you need to put the system in a vacuum with a pump to burn off any moisture in the system otherwise you could be buying a new comressor and dryer in the future from them going bad if you dont.
