I've got 2000 GT and I have been thinking about putting a 5.4 SOHC in it - the question is whether or not it is worth it - I've found that a 4.6 SOHC weighs in at 500lbs and a 5.4 SOHC is a 525 - is the extra displacement worth the swap?

just for the heads up i heard an ls7 fits nicely in the engine bay, heads flow like niagra falls, and with a nice cam will pull harder then a kb cobra on the top end...ad some spray and check your pants
na i'll be honest its not worth it. You will se a 5 or 6 rwhp from the swap and about an ok amount of tq picked up, but thats it. I've done a 2v and the main thing is power to weight ratio. the added hp and tq will ultimately be offset by the extra weight.
That just doesnt seem worth it - I was reading a couple of accounts and they made it sound like the cat's pajamas. An LS7 would be sweet - dont those cost a ton??
HA!
It will be costly, my buddy Jason did it in his 03 cobra and he had PSR put it together. Has a single turbo, ditched the 6 speed and did a 4k dollar lentech 4r70w with a trans brake.
I think that an LS7 would cost a ton - unless a ZO7 crashed through my living room. But is the concensus not to do a 5.4?
In n/a form its not really worth the effort. BUT chuck one of these at it and it opens up a whole new world
2012 Race Red GT w/ a 5 Liter and a 6 speed
2010 Dodge Challenger R/T traded in.
'03 DBS Cobra .... Traded in, THANK GOD
'01 Ford Lightning.... Sold, sorely missed
So its worth it if I'm going to be putting boost through the engine? Sounds good
