    Garage Cabinets

I was just wondering what you guys are using for cabinets in your garage. I just finished moving into my new house and am looking to get some cabinets installed along one of the walls from floor to ceiling. Not looking to spend tons of money but want something nice. If you guys have any pics and know of anyone that does them that would be great. Still have lots to do to get the garage where I want it. So far I just epoxied the floor.

Same here gotta do the floor and get some cabinetry going. Thinking about going with an acid stain on the concrete. Would match the house nicely

You see a lot of flyers in the mail advertising cabinets for $699 or $799. These is a basic 6' high, 8' long and 24" deep unit. Once you add on from there the price just goes up. Also keep in mind 24" deep cabinets will eat a lot of room if you have them attached to the sides of your garage. 24" deep cabinets work well on 24' deep garages but take away a lot of room on 20' deep garage. Also stay away from cabinets that have backing. Why pay for extra wood you don't need. Let the walls of your garage be the backing of your cabinets. Hidden hinges are extra and not needed. Handles are extra and you can install them yourself for $1 ea like I did. The pic below shows all the cabinets I have and I paid $1400 for everything except the pegboard. I installed that myself. Steve's Storage Solutions in Mesa did it 5 years ago and they still operate like new. You can't see all the cabinets to the right of the pic but there is one more complete section. Also, there are three cabinets behind the Stang and a full benchtop. I wired everything with numerous outlets, switches, and lighting.

As for flooring. There are basically three ways of going...meaning paint. Cheap $20 gallon garage floor paint that will peel in one year. An epoxy paint that might lift a little after 3-5 years and high end epoxy coating which run about $2.50 a square foot(400sqft/2car garage) and it really looks nice. I went for the Rustoleum epoxy from Lowes. Total cost was $200 for a three car garage and it still hold up well after five years.

Thanks for the input. My garage is deep enough to install them on the back wall but I was thinking or putting them on the side between the mustang and wall. I still would have room, just have to move the car to access them which wouldn't be a problem.

Acid staining the garage is the way to go if you really want a killer garage setup. It puts epoxy coated garages to shame. Only bad thing is that most of the sealers for the acid stained concretes are available here in Maricopa County due to VOC restrictions.

Good suggestions. I'd do 20's with floor to walls surrounding a built in workbench with storage above.

I've seen both and even stained floors need some kind of coating. Plus stained floors, at least the ones I've seen just have an uneven color to them. If I had the $$ I would get a epoxy coating like below but it runs about $1200 for a three car garage.. Ouch
