    To young to understand

    please help

Me and my mom just got into an arguement while i was working on the mustang because she said thats all i care about and i do nothing for her but everything for the d**n car. so she is putting it on craigslist and auto trader to sell it she doesnt want me around the car anymore. That car is my love Is my life. she kept it because i told her i was leaving the house if she does. everytime i say MY car she yells its hers to correct me and yet she hasnt literally touched it in 2 years. an even after her correcting me she comes down stairs and tells me to read the title and read the specs when i am done with it i hand it to her and she tell me to keep it? she is freaking torturing me. i rather be grounded. from everything except her. i have talk to at least thirty people and everytime i get the same response. "If it was my car and you took that much care of it, i would have past it down to you." i have been trying to sell my truck for some time now by=ut have not been pushing it.

Now i need some serious help.
i need the truck gone. now. so i can give her at least 2000 and 500 to fix the car otherwise its gone.....i don't think i can handle that... i just need money down to prove to her i will buy it. it WILL be mine.

Imagine someone driving you dream car. bragging. teasing you that it could have been yours easily..

i dont know what to do. im to young to understand i think.

This is a tuff one little bro, but you pretty much hit the nail on the head. Here is all I can offer, I lost my father when I was 13, and lost my mom at 16, at 16, I had a 71 Mach 1 and a 71 Grande, I would have traded both cars to have my mom and dad at 17. Sometimes we have to give up what we cherish most, in order to see what it is that we should be cherishing. Hope you can find a buyer for the truck soon, but should it go the other way, remember it's only a car, you and your relationship with your mother is way more important. There's always another car, but never another Mom.

Just back off some Austin. See if you can "bargan" with Mom. No "car stuff" till the fall or something.

However, she IS right, it IS HERS, you just happen to have the LUCKY privilege of being in the same household with it. Learn to appreciate THAT and SHOW it and perhaps mom will relent.

Lastly, consider yourself lucky ANYWAY, as you have access to a "cool" car to drive at times. *I* got to, rarely, (short grocery trips or with (a) parent(s)) drive the new but "square" 84 Mercury Marquis Brougham, mostly the 79 Datsun 510 wagon, complete with primer spots and sometimes the 4 door 51 Chevy (last time Ive drove a Chevy) with a Stovebolt six and Powerglide. The Chevy had no radio of any kind, the Datsun FM, no cassette.

Later in college I got to drive the 86 4 cyl base, stripper model Ranger long bed, again with no FM or cassette.

Some of my household "drivers ed" was in a 76 Vega.

I didnt get my own car (still have it) till I was 20.

You know though, when we first got it, we, me esp, felt like it was a BIG step up. Digital clock, FM stereo, ac, side door trim, roof rack, rear window defrost, full wheel covers, etc. We thought it handled like a sports car. All the previous cars that mattered didnt have ac. 71 VW fastback, 74? Pinto wagon, at least I dont THINK it had ac, 76 Vega. The only vehicle I remember for sure that had ac was the 75? F250 Super Cab.

The ironic thing is, now I dont even USE ac, even living out here.

Just one of the many bumps in the highway of life my young friend. Here's one you got to look forward to. My Wife has that same expression "You don't spend enough time with me", this of course is right in the middle of doing a detail or something on the car. Here's how I handle it, I stop get up, go give her a kiss, walk her over to the passenger side, open the door, and take her for a cruise and a dinner. I get to keep the peace, the car and her, this way, so far it's worked 217 times in the last 33 years, for the other 1493 times it didn't, I had to buy flowers, too.

Little different, with all the crap that young folks find themselves in today, maybe she should be very happy that your so interested in cars and not other very destructive things. I would much rather have my boys outside wrenchen on a car that sittin inside playin vids...

When I was 8 my dad brought home a 72' Challenger w/440 six pack.. Oranger with a Black roof pistol grip and all, two months later it was gone because my mom thought my brother was going to kill himslef in it. I came home to find a blue Polaris wagon in its place...
