    Great News!!!!!!

I blew the motor in the Lightning!!!!!!! It makes me so happy I could just SCREAM . I don't have the money for a motor and don't want to dig myself farther into debt on the CC's so its gonna stay that way for a little bit.

So here is the story. Put the 6lb lower on the truck (average pulley for L's) and took it to Keith at Arizona Dyno chip. They installed the lower, and put it on the dyno. Truck made 5 WOT runs. Max timing on the last run was 16.5 degrees. A/F was 11.3 on the final 2 runs and fatter on the previous 3. It was pulling timing up top of 3rd due to high IAT2 temps and figured we need to clean the intercooler. Lightnings are very notorious for pushing ALOT of oil through the PCV system and into the intercooler then burning thus clogging it. Start it back up and uh oh there is a pretty serious rod knock. Drove it home (somehow) and sits for a couple days. Today Graham took it into school and hooked it up to the machine there and confirms that it is lower end related. I will get him on here either tonight or tomorrow to go into more detail.

I can get an OEM Longblock from Ford for 3300 shipped. Gotta decide what I want to do.

so ur saying that after 5 WOT pulls, the blower started getting hott...thats WEIRD??
i thought that it was rare for the aftercooler to get clogged by oil from the pcv system???
wow, there's a computer out there that can tell u what part of the engine is blown??? where have i been for this and where is this miracle machine located? and to think of all the ppl who still think they have to do it the old fashion way and take the engine apart to find out where the problem is.... guess cracker took to pulling bunnies outta his ass like u.(frosty the snow man joke)

You should understand more details. Those 5 WOT runs were made over a 3 hour period. It cut timing out up top on EVERY run, including the first when the blower was cold... Fact is the intercooler was clogged with oil, just as I had mentioned. Not rare actually fairly common if an oil separator is not used

That magic machine you need to find is a computer that tests compression along with many other things. If you were a FORD dealer or could get to a FORD dealer you would find out that there are things like that. I was trying to avoid taking it completely apart if at all possible, you know to minimize downtime.

It might stay together that way.

That would be why I suggested it. They are not that hard to do. unless you are implying something different

I hooked it up to the IDS which can run realtive compression tests, power balance tests, and lots of other stuff. I ran self tests on the motor with koeo and koer to pull cmdts. It only threw one which was an over boost condition. I also monitored pids to make sure everything was where it should be. Everything was normal so I decided to put an engine ear on it. The knock was the worst on the right bank. I kept listening and started canceling cylinders. I pulled #4 and the noise decreased a lot, which tell us that is the problem cylinder. Its hard to say whether it started with a rod which led to the piston slapping around creating a slight double knock or whether the wrist pin took a dump. My guess is the rod went first. We won't really know more until we pull it apart.
