    Actually, the cam profile and the exhaust closing has a lot to do with filling the cylinder for the next firing.

    I'd go with #3. I would think its the initial pressure on the valve and once it opens the air rushes in

    Piston going down, suction caused by seal of piston ring + oil to cyl wall.

    Three..... negative pressure pulls air and fuel in the chamber....Atmospheric pressure forces air in attempt to make up for the lower pressure.

    the intake charge is pulled in. do to the diff. in pres. Outside it is 14.7 inside is lower....

    do you get it?
