I have 3:73's in my setup.
It all depends on what your final trap speed is going to be and planned shift points. If you use 4:10s on a 28" tire and trap around 130MPH plan on the RPMs being around 6200. I base this on a 29" tire height due to the slick growing. When I went from a 26" to a 28" tire on my stock 3:55s it did not affect my ET in a negative manner.
The 3.90 gears have some history of breakage and whine so I would stay away from those.
Check out the gear calculators here.

I am actually happy how quiet my car is with solid bushings all around. I can't tell much difference from the IRS sound wise. So much for these so called experts who wished me good luck with the setup and said it would be noisy.
