    What gears to use....?

Well I have made up my mind to go with a solid axle. What gears should I go with? I will go to the track occasionally, The car is not my DD. What do you guys think?

3.73 will be good and still wont hurt you if you step up to a twin screw. i liked my 3.90s as well, if you plan on sticking with a ported blower then you may like them instead.

I have 3:73's in my setup.

It all depends on what your final trap speed is going to be and planned shift points. If you use 4:10s on a 28" tire and trap around 130MPH plan on the RPMs being around 6200. I base this on a 29" tire height due to the slick growing. When I went from a 26" to a 28" tire on my stock 3:55s it did not affect my ET in a negative manner.

The 3.90 gears have some history of breakage and whine so I would stay away from those.

Check out the gear calculators here.

You hear that Tony? 3.90's = bad lol. but back to the original thread, I think 3.73's will be fine, that's what I'll be going with when I get S/C

My bag I thought he had a GT. If he has a 99-01 Cobra than 4.30's or 4.56's. Depends on you.
