When I walked out the gates of Luke AFB in 1980 I worked for a landscaping company and made 4x min wage. $8 start pay for busting your ass in 1980 was good money. Auto mechs were making $10-$12. Look what's happened in 25 years. My roommate left to go back to his home state of Iowa and he was hired the next day at a meat packing plant making $13/hr.............in 1980. By the mid eighties he was making almost $20/hr union. $20/hr in 1985 was unreal money. Look what's happened in 20 years. These same meat packing jobs are paying $9/hr today 20 years later.
This quote kills me............
"Filling the specific jobs in question would require large numbers of low-skilled workers, and the U.S. education system produces relatively few of them,"......
Not here in AZ. We have more then enough..
The numbers UofA promotes are just unrealistic. Yes, if you were to hurd up all the millions of illegals at once, yes it would put a dent on revenues earned....but that's not going to happen. Weeding them out over time will cause job opening for others and maybe businees need to increase there prices alittle to compensate for better wages. I'm all for paying $.50 more for a head of lettuce knowing an American picked it.....
