Nope, the control joint is just in the driveway. The slab has no control joints- it's post-tensioned.

I got the idea from a guy on svtperformance.com. If I was going to do it again, I'd find something other than the racers tape to do the checkerboard. The tape doesn't stick well to a painted wall. I actually ended up taking the tape and adding glue to the back of it for better adhesion. It looks good now but was a pain to do. I bought it here:
