My brother just bought a 2000 v6 stang w/ 5 speed etc. He had to buy a v6 for insurance reasons. Anyway, he wants to drop the v6 and put a 4.6 of some kind in it. Anyone know what is involved in this swap? Any suggestions Dan?

It will be a lot of money in the long run. You cant just toss in a 4.6 and expect that 7" rear end to stay together. You would need to find a wrecked gt, so you can take out the engine and tranny as one unit, driveshaft, rear end, and computer.
I have an uncle in Palm Springs, California who owns a auto salvaging business. He can get you everything you'd need from a donor car for a good price.
Where is your brother at?
BTW, I wouldn't waste the time swapping in a 2V 4.6. Get a 5.0 or some type of crate engine. If he's really gotta have a 4.6, tell him to get a DOHC.
Hey. My brother lives in Gilbert. You guys will get to meet him, when you meet me.

Good.
If he can't find the stuff locally I'll go with him to my uncles salvage yard and help him strip out a V8 stang. Hell, mabey he would rather just rob a Ford 9 inch and a C4 instead
That goes for anyone reading. If you need a solid axle swap, a good C4 for an auto conversion or vice versa...or anything else small or big let me know and I'll get you in touch with him. He'll cut a deal for ya when I refer people.
Hey James do you think you can score me a 94-98 8.8? :DOriginally Posted by 50 BMG
I always have parts laying around as well. I havedone that swap a few times and can tell you that it is expensive I can and will do swaps atthe new shop
I bet the cost alone will make him think twice.
Can he do it for $5K? He wants to buy the parts gradually and once everythings bought, then have it done. He wants a 4.6 sohc. then down the road, he wants to throw a turbo on it.
