Thread: Ford says don't modify your 2011-2012 Mustang 5.0 or your warranty is void

    From what I have been reading it is safer to add FI to the new 5.0 then it is to have just a tune. It was said that most of the tuners just applied the tuning of the 4.6 to the 5.0 as in more timing = more power and this was the cause of most failures.
    I would say it is more in the tune then anything as there are some with no issue that are beating on the car.

    I don't know where it came from that high compression motors are usually maxed out as that is not true.

    I agree though that the warranty for me ended when I drove off the lot, same with my Jeep. Let something break and I will make it better.

    There is a video of the testing the Ford Racing supercharger goes through, so they think it is pretty safe to add a SC.

    I think it was bad early tuning, too. These motors are no where close to being "maxed out" from the factory.
    2012 GT500 543/533 11.7@120
    1995 5.0 minute or two per lap

    Bad early tuning is correct.
    There's not a lot left N/A stock without mods.
    The Whipple Supercharger is a safe mod for this engine.
