I think all mfgr are trying to get around wty repairs if there is any reason. Posted some time ago there was an article about some guy (not around here) that had come to the dealer for wty repair on a new Mustang (05 on) with a damaged engine the dealer refuesed the repair under wty because the service manager witnessed the failure at a drag strip. There is fine print somewhere that say, racing a no no. As for the 5.0, this is still a new item and is in the figuring out phase, and if you look at the BOSS, for a 30 or so hp gain they literally changed everything except the block, but you have to think that the engineers are not going to design an engine in the begining of its cycle to be maxed for output, I think they are also working on higher output from the 5.0 design. I sure would not be throwing forced induction on one of these now! Time will tell.

    That really ain't anything new.

Do a cai/tune, headers, ect on any car from any manufacturer and blow your engine and it won't be covered under warrantee. It's a calculated risk you take when you modify a car under warrantee.

The lifespan on the warrantees on my Mustangs have typically been about 2 weeks or 500 miles.

Well that kind of kills the ability to supercharge the engine without having to do a crap load of engine mods. Like dave said people have probably blown up their engines by not doing something properly and then complained to Ford about it. So this might just be a precaution from Ford. I hope that is the case after all the hype around the 5.0 engine.

Its like any new engine, here are the specs and then aftermarket takes over and see's what they can and cant do with these engines. And who know exactly what one person is doing or how they are driving their cars. I dont know of any car manufacturer that would guarantee an engine after it was modded by a non Ford Authorized Part. Would You? Mass produced parts fail all the time, even $100K motors when they are pushed too hard, one little glitch and K pow!
