    New 5.0 or GT500

After seeing more of the 2010 and newer stangs running around, I am thinking on getting one in the spring. Question being, either purchase a used gt500, 2010 or newer or a new 5.0. Now I havent driver either car so I have no opinions yet. Both are sweet but can not decide which one to get. Anyone driven both and what are your thoughts?

I rode in a 2011 5.0 a few days ago. It had a tune and some minor mods. I was impressed with the performance. I have never been in a new GT500. I think I would get a base 5.0/Auto and do some mods if I was buying today.

I would figure you would say 5.0/auto. I would probably order a base blk/brembo/355 car if I went 5.0. I like the shelby for later upgrading and making some hp. Whatever I buy won't be a daily driver and might get to the drags/autocross once in a while.

I got a nice 4.6 with an auto you can buy to go drag racing in.

Ive driven both. They are both very nice, however, if it was me I would buy a 5.0 and add mods to it. Save some money! On the other hand if money is no object then go for the GT500, it will probably have better resale value down the line and having a 5.4 wont hurt either. I have the 2010 and wanted the 5.0 I just couldn't fine a used automatic, I'm done shifting, to hard to eat when driving if you have to shift! I also didn't want to pay retail for a new 5.0, Id rather get it with 10k or less and save some money. I might go for a 5.0 down the line but I'm not in any hurry, it has to make sense and the deal has to be there for me to pull the trigger. My 2010 is fast enough to get me plenty of tickets, oh that's right I just got one!

When I bought my 2011 5.0 I was actually looking for a 2011 GT500 but went the other way after really thinking about what I truly wanted. I want to run 11's, be able to do track days, and have a reliable weekend cruiser (yeah I know, I already had this car with the 427R). I figured it would take sticky tires and a pulley/tune to do this with the GT500 or sticky tires and a tune/CAI/longtubes with the 5.0 here (don't quote me internet/magazine times from mineshaft air in New Jersey or New Jersey- I see what cars run here).

Anyway, at some point I realized I could get the 5.0 loaded up (plus a few grand for mods) for mid 30's or the GT500 for every nickel of 50 grand and came to the conclusion that a GT500 wasn't 15k more of a car than a 2011 5.0 for what I wanted to do with it.

Now, throw a 40k+ Boss into the mix and I might have had to redo my math.
