    In need of some help.

    Finally on my way out to Yuma, AZ from good old Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

    I wound up getting left hanging by the company I hired to ship my '04 Mach 1. It wasnt until the last minute that I found out that the date they said they would be picking up my ride was just an "estimate" and that they now estimated that it wouldnt be until next week until they could get a driver to pick it up.

    BS...but anyway, planned my whole trip off the first date they gave me, making adjustments last minute would have been a pain, and didnt want to (1) burden any friends to deal with the pick-up at a later date and (2) wasnt too keen on this company handling my car after mishandling dates.

    Oh well, live and learn.

    I wound up renting a U-Haul tow-dolly to pull the Mach out there with my wife's 4-Runner. U-Haul recommended dropping the drive shaft because of the Stang being RWD, didnt matter it being a 5spd. Not being a mechanic and my knowledge or cars being limited, I called the only mechanic in my area that I ever trusted to work on my car and he said that dropping the drive shaft was probably a good call. So he took care of it for me and now I am going to need to get the drive shaft put back on when I get to Yuma.

    Anyone in the Yuma area know of any good mechanics who would be able to knock it out real quick when I get there?? Also thinking of just getting the tranny fluid changed too since about a quart or so came out when the drive shaft was pulled and will need to be topped off at least.

    Pls reply to this thread or send me a PM if you know of anyone? Last resort will be the stealership.

    I am enroute and I am hoping to be there around the 18th or 19th of May.

    Stop off here and let us do it for you quick. It's only roughly 180 or so miles to Yuma from here.

    Unless you're also driving a big moving van with your household goods in it.

    Thx for all the replies. I'm sure I could do this given the time and tools. Not sure what Yuma base's hobby shop is like.

    Think I'll just swing by PSR and have them knock it out real quick.

    WildBill, what's a good number for you guys?

    Not sure right now what day/time we will be there. We're in Albuquerque right now. Stopping off in Sedona tomorrow.

    Think it may be Monday, maybe early afternoon. Let me know what's best for you guys. Thx in advance

    Just the 4Runner towing the Mach... unfortunately, the Mach has turned into a pseudo trailer as the truck is packed with the kids and dogs (them 4Runners ain't very roomy)

    I'll talk to the wife and see if she wants to make a pit stop in Phoenix. I know we drive past it on our way in.

    If you can't do the flyby in PHX at PSR on your way through it's really a pretty easy install. All you need is a pair of jackstands and a 12MM (or is it 10) wrench and some loc-tite.

    Or, does the base have a hobby shop? There should be like a dozen people there on any given Saturday AM that could slap this in for you.

    If not, even the greediest of stealerships shouldn't charge you a $100 at most to throw the shaft in and top off the fluid (which is still robbery).

    Welcome to Yummy, BTW. I don't live there but I get to work there quite a bit. Not as bad of a place as what you've likely heard.

    This is probably the simplest thing to do EVER. Jack the rear of the car up high and place on jack stands. Put the car in neutral. Remove the plug from the transmission (if you used one) and slide the drive shaft yolk into the transmission. Then lift the rear of the driveshaft up to the rear end yolk. Look for a colored (yellow or white) spot that is on the end of the drive shaft and the rear end yolk. Line the marks up and install the 4 bolts with some Blue LOCTITE. Using the hand brake lock the rear tires and tighten the bolts as tight as humanly possible. Done. If you are stationed at a base don't they have a hobby garage you can use?

    Thanks to Bill and the guys at PSR for getting my Mach off the dreaded UHaul tow-dolly and back on the road again! Drive from Phoenix out the Yuma went without a hitch.

    No vibrations like you said could happen Bill with the drive-shaft not being indexed when my guy in NC took it off. If anything does develop I'll give you a call and will definitely be gettin up with you when I'm ready to start to performanc mods.
