May the force be with you! I was in Hawaii last week and heard a presentation from a guy that directs the observatory on top of Mauna Kea. They are using laser technology not too different from this (and from the military) to essentially punch little holes in the atmosphere and allow telescopes to get views of space like the Hubble - without any atmospheric distortion. Would do away with the need to have telescopes in space. Technology can be amazing sometimes.
