    Angry Emission Fail

1st time for emissions , an they said the car fails ! Car runs like a top ! No codes, no lights, yet "they' said, " The OBD 2 system is "Not Ready", as reported by the vehicles- on board computer." WHAT??? How can the "system" NOT be ready ?? Could it be the 16 yr old ,working there ? You only get 2 "inspections". Should I take it to a different station , or what ? Input please ??? (ran a test fer codes with my SCT scanner an showed NO codes)

make sure the car has ran a full drive cycle. did you unplug your battery prior to the emissions?

hmm. did you tune the car yourself or have a shop do it? and the emissions place shouldnt give you a fail if it says car is not ready because you didnt fail its, just not ready. i had the same problem took it to my tuner, and he hooked it up to a emission testeing machine and fixed it.

In general, if you have things turned off, the 05 up will not pass the test because it doesn't set a readiness test for that specific parameter.

I just got the same error, O2 sensors not ready. I guess when you have a performance tune done, they turn off the O2 sensors. I was not told that they'd be disabling my emmisions when I had this done. I wouldn't have done it, becuase now I'm being told they have to charge me to fix it. Granted, the tune and CAI were about 4 years ago, but again, I didn't know they were making it where my car can't even be emmisions tested!
