I have been reading you cant run the car past 140 that much without trouble? How bad will the IRS/trans be with the mods we have talked about?

IRS and trans will last. You will need a better clutch and input shaft. It depends on what your plans for the car are but 140 mph under boost for an extended period does not sound good.

Tons of load. Heat Buildup. Detonation. Boom Goes Motor.
There a many stories of people going into WOT in 5th and 6th for an extended periods. The result is the same. Motor Failure.

Do you plan to keep the IRS? I know many upgrade the IRS bushings. There stock IRS / Springs / Shocks and Struts handle very good.

will I have problems with the irs with the whipple 2.3l and supporting mods? I mean like any wheel hop or anything? I would like to lower it and get some good struts. Also I would be getting better bushings front and rear with subframe connectors.

I ran the stock IRS a ton of times in the high 10's. Whatever you do DO NOT BUY LEVEL 5 HALF SHAFTS.
I believe the bushings get rid of the wheel hop. I never really had it that bad with drag radials as the Whipple will overpower the tires.
Full length subframe connectors will stiffen the car up.
At the track I used Bias Ply MT ET Streets with the IRS.

Or you could just get a solid axle and not worry about all this stuff.
