Good to hear you, and your Car, are OK Austin. Bet your heart hasn't beaten that hard before! The best thing to do in a situation like that is to stomp on the clutch petal, or pop the transmission into neutral. When you shut down the motor, you loose power assist to you brakes and steering.
But all's well that ends well, you and your Car came out of it OK.
customer of mine did that with a 4-4-2 and cost him a pretty penny replacing a motor and transmission.
