We just picked the car the car on Monday from our dealer and good friend Philip Weikert of Weikert Ford in Lake Wales, FL. We've purchased 4 cars from Philip in the last few years and he's treated us great every time. We ordered our car on March 20th, 2010. It was built on April 12th and scheduled to be delivered on May 5th however it was help up in Michigan by Ford for unknown reasons. None the less it finally arrived and was delivered to us on June 7th, 2010. Coming from our black w/grabber blue striped GT500 I really didn't know what to expect. I mean we pretty much had the best of the best when it comes to mustangs so I was only able to go off of everything I've read about the car so far. When I first got to see it in the breezeway at the dealer the grabber blue looked amazing. It stands out like you couldn't believe and I was very happy we chose that color. As we opened the door to the car I caught a glimpse of the interior and I was definitely impressed. The leather and interior trim looked just as good as our 2010 GT500 interior did. The grabber blue accents in the leather pop right out at you and the dash and tach looked great as well. After we signed all of our papers and went on our way the first thing I noticed was the clutch pedal. It was soft and smooth as can be. There was no chatter or hiss with the clutch. It was like butter and shifting was a breeze. The car feels solid and rides very smooth. The 5.0L puts out a nice rumble with the stock exhaust under acceleration and feels strong for a completely stock car. Remember we're coming from a 900rwhp Shelby so it's going to take a lot to impress me as far as power goes but I was definitely enjoying the power of the new 4v 5.0L. We stopped for lunch on the way back and after I got into the car I struggled a little trying to figure out reverse. I'm so used to the Shelby's 6 speed that needs to go to the far right and forward to hit reverse that it threw me off needing to go to the far left and forward. That wasn't it. Not only do you need to go to the far left and forward you need to press down on the handle before making the move to the far left in order for it to actually allow you to go into reverse. After I figured that out it was a great ride home across the state besides getting my first speeding ticket in over 5 years. The car is so smooth and powerful that I had no clue I was going as fast as I was. Mr. Sherriff made me aware by writing me a ticket and then I continued my way home. None the less Ford did a great job with the car and we're super excited to finally have it in our hands. Now we can do what we do best is work with our excellent vendors/manufacturers to bring our customers the highest quality and best performing aftermarket performance parts possible.
We look forward to doing some suspension and exhaust work along with a custom tune from our tuner Jon Lund as soon as we get a few base line runs in at the track..
STAY TUNED AS THE 5.0L IS BACK!!!
