One guy flys the other guy provides essential feedback and instructions. It is my understanding this is standard operating procedure for shuttle operations.

Crazy to see the curvature (sp) of the earth and then the thing is on the ground like 2-3 min later haha.
That was def at Edwards AFB, that dry lake bed is something else. I was fortunate enough to see the Shuttle land there 2 times while I was stationed there. That thing sonic booms in, looks like a dot in the sky and then next thing you know it's coming in at such a steep angle and then BAM on the ground.
It's pretty crazy.
