Undo the bolts. Just kidding. Is it an auto or manual?

Are you sure it needs the flywheel? Is there one on it? Have you looked at it? If its there does it need to be surfaced, is the starter ring ok? Need more info if you want help. If you need a new one I suggest you get it at Sanderson or Parts Mart, Checker and Autozone sell junk stuff. You asked for advice......you just got it. Oh ya, is it a 2 for 4 wheel drive, and if you do the flywheel best get a new clutch kit. Leaving now to do some drugs.....got em from Jose the sidewalk pharmacist.

Its a 4 wheel drive. Yes their is a flywheel and its one where you can just pull the ring gear off. The starter is brand new already put that in and you cannot shim it since there is only three bolts the mount it. Im not sure how to tell if it needs to be re surfaced i was going to take it to napa and have them put on the gear and do what they need to. While the tranny was out i was planning on doing the clutch. Just for my own personal satisfaction as this is my daily driver and dont want to pull the tranny out in a week. Jodatt drove the truck home from goodyear and told me the clutch felt good. It just grinds when you hit the starter. I already have a Pioneer Ring gear.

Austin, what is your problem, is the truck driveable which is sounds like it is? Is the problem you can't get the starter to start it? Is the starter the right one? Is the ring on the fly wheel broken or gone or the teeth are striped. Before you go ripping stuff apart see if there is an inspection plate on the bottom of the bell housing so you can look at the teeth. If they look good then remove the starter and see if it is the right one. Remember with a 4x their is a transfer case on the back of the transmission, this stuff if heavy and you better know what the heck you are doing. To let you know I don't do that stuff no mo.

Starter is the right one. Flywheel had teeth. It was not starting. WHen you hit the starter it would grind and make a loud ass sound. I was not ripping shit apart yet i was just asking a few questions. I dont care if you do it anymore i was not planning on asking you. I was asking was it could be and how much of a pain it is. But i took the starter out re did a bunch of wires and put it and got a new solenoid and it started. It is still grinding but it started. My Original question was any tips or wisdom. I am still going to pull it to redo the clutch and junk.
