    Limits to stock long block?

Seems like a nice community and I found it via mightymustangs.net...

Anyways, I am new to the KB Termi coming from a 416CI and sprayed GTO. Wondering what sort of HP the stock long block can support and maintain a reasonable degree of reliability. The Termi I bought already has a 2.2 KB unit and is pushing 600rwhp on 93 and 630rwhp on 93/100mix on 17psi. How much more SHOULD the motor be able to support? I am thinking of running a 20psi tune on 93+meth for the drag strip.

Going to keep the IRS so I know I'll need some LVL 5 half shafts.

I have been maxing 625 on VP109 for about 3 years now with no problems. 600 may be pushing it on 93 octane.

Keep the stock Half Shafts and stay out of the wheel hop. Trust me I have been down the LVL 5 road and it was not pretty.

Well, supposedly it already makes 600rwhp on 93...that is what the previous owner claimed and has the dyno sheet for.

It is a full exhaust (LT's no cats) with a ported intake....but numbers aren't really what matters to me. Once I get it on the track I'll be more interested in the MPH plus I am having it retuned for METH anyways.

Thanks for the advice on the half shafts.

So you are saying that 600 is about the limit before I should consider breaking into the motor?

No 600 is safe. There are many cobras making that much power or more. The key is to have a safe tune for pump gas. 600 seems high for 93 octane.

I've been on 19# and running 93 all summer with no probs, running a fairly conservative tune also from what I've seen. Gotta love the KB, your tune has a lot to do with it.

I moved back to Indiana like 8 months ago... And am hating it. I always ran 100 from Loves or a mix of 100 and 91. I haven't had any probs with just straight 93 out here though. Wish we had it in AZ.

stay away from the meth kits. our tuner has a stock 03/04 cobra motor with a 2.2 kb crower cams 19 psi on race gas it made 640 on a very Conservative tune. ive heard of people making a lil over 700 put it was race only app

This topic about meth kits is actually bordering on the amusing. Depending on who I talk to about it I get different answers. And I'm not talking about small shops with no rep.

Some say not worth it while others say the Octane boost is worth it if you want to avoid the expense of race gas (plus a moderate cooling benefit).

the meth pumps are just not reliable, when it craps out so does the engine. we have even changed out the orifice in the meth pumps and just used H20 on a couple cars. if you want to avoid the cost of race gas, go E85 and have best of both worlds
