View Full Version : Considering selling 2003 Cobra...

I just recently let go my GT500 as I was NOT a fan of the SRA and didn't want to put the thousands into the suspension work and more into the performance to make it faster and as fun as my 2003.

After the 500 was gone, I started nosing around looking at some other new cars and thought I'd consider selling the 03 Cobra for a considerable down payment on something toward the exotic realm.

Anyway, I didn't want to post in classifieds as usually this breaks the rules to ask questions and let me know if this post does, but I'd like some input on what I might be able to get for the car, especially if I sold it with all of the parts I have that are uninstalled.

2003 Redfire Mustang Cobra
53k Miles / All records available
75k Ford ESP Program (might still be good, I think)
Custom painted rear bumper (pics below)
No accidents

Modifications:

Metco 8lb Lower Pulley (stock upper)
BBK Chrome Fenderwell CAI
SCT Chip Tuned Conservative
SCT Big Air MAF
Bilstein BTS Suspension System
Eibach Sway Bar Kit (front/rear - best kit available - forgot name)
Brembo "Cobra-R" Brake System w/ Cross Drilled Rotors
LFP Dual Pass Heat Exchanger
LFP Brushed Aluminum Intercooler tank
Fluidyne radiator
Evanscooling NPG+ Coolant
Evanscooling high-flow water pump
Mac Catted ProChamber
Magnapack cat-back (Magnaflow kit with Magnapack mufflers instead)
Dual FPDMs
Dual Ford GT Fuel Pumps
True Philips 6000k HID systems for headlights AND fog lamps (see pic)
AEM UEGO A/F Meter
Autometer Lunar Boost Gauge
BBK Chrome Caster/Camber plates
Custom painted rear bumper (lettering are NOT inserts)
BF Goodrich KDW 285s all the way around.

Last, but not least was my little science experiment that worked and rocked...

CryO2 (by DEI) Co2 Intake cooling system

10lb Co2 Bottle in trunk mounted akin to a nitrous bottle
Teardrop shaped bulb installed in air filter inside wheel well (no condensation or volumetric reduction)
Line from intake leads to Intercooler sprayer
Front purge lines under horse emblem for fun
Under hot-lap and heat-soaked blower conditions, sprayer brings boost instantly back to up to 1psi more than you normally get.

The extra stuff I have for upgrades that are not installed:

Whipple 2.3L Polished with aftermarket TB plenum
Billetflow red anodized single-blade TB
Fidanzia lightweight flywheel
Aeromotive red anodized fuel rails with black fittings
Siemens-Deka 60lb Injectors & Harnesses (new/unused)
Autometer dual pod cluster bezel
Autometer Lunar Fuel Pressure Gauge
Autometer Lunar Water Temp Gauge
SCT XCal3 with custom tunes already programmed (not for whipple)
Cooling mod crossover (forgot who makes it...the one everyone gets)

I think that's about it...

The only mechanical repairs that were made was to replace a broken idler pulley and Ford once re-programmed the computer on a recall for a low-idle stalling problem once.

Always synthetic, usually between Motorcraft or AMSOil
All maintenance records available

HID Demonstration - Note upper and lower are same color (bought at same time, same manufacturer, no weird color differences, etc)

Custom painted rear bumper with a mix of Redfire metallic G2 and a Mercedes black to achieve a shade a few shades darker than stock.

Can you add some more up close pictures of the interior and under the hood? Who tuned the car?

Can you add some more up close pictures of the interior and under the hood? Who tuned the car?

I'll see if I have some or take some, but if the question is about blemishes then I can honestly say that there are some front bumper small rock chips and there are two small dime-sized dimples in the driver fender from a motorcycle brake lever when someone was sitting on bike and was accidentally pushed over, but if I sold it to anyone I'd have them removed via PDR.

The interior is perfect with no stains on the suede and very very light, minor driver seat bolster wearing, but no cracks or rips of any kind.

I'll see what I can come up with though.

The car was tuned by Kurgan Motorsports in Illinois for a max air/fuel of 11.7 and the SCT XCal3 was bought to fine tune it.

Based on the current market it will probably sell in the lower 20's without the extras.

It may be better to sell the extras as a separate transaction.

gotta agree with burntire on that. this is definetly not the time to get top dollar for a cobra. i would hate to be selling one right now.

Your best bet is to sell all the extra's you have and return the car to as close to stock as possible, if you have stock parts still. I say 20k.

So the rear bumper is darker than the rest of the car? Looks like it matches in the pics...

I'll swap my lights and cash for your hid's. I agree, swap everything as close to stock and you'll get more for it. Or, put all your shit on, esp the whipple and enjoy it. Exotics are cool, just not that cool when a whippled termi ruins their day.
