Is Your Engine Temperature Rising And You Don't Know What To Do? Redline Cooling Can Help (http://www.highperformancestangs.com/techarticles/mump_0909_how_to_install_an_aluminum_radiator_fan_ combo/index.html)Classic Mustangs have always had overheating issues due to small engine compartments and inadequate cooling systems. Those original two-row core radiators don't remove enough engine heat because there's not enough cooling tubes and fins-surface area-to remove heat. When Mustang radiators were new, they were right on the ragged edge of inadequate. Over time, use and neglect led to corrosion, further diminishing the ability to remove heat. With each clogged or damaged tube, cooling capacity becomes increasingly compromised.inline_mediumwraptextrightThis drawing of a 289 engine demonstrates coolant flow. Coolant flows into the water pump and engine through the lower radiator hose. Coolant circulates through the block and heads until the thermostat's opening temperature is reached. Normal opening temperature for classic Mustangs is 180 degrees F, although some folks use 160 degrees F. When coolant temperature reaches 180 degrees F, the thermostat opens, releasing hot coolant via the upper hose into the radiator where engine heat transfers to the slipstream.24990716/techarticles/mump_0909_how_to_install_an_aluminum_radiator_fan_ combomump_0909_02_+how_to_install_an_aluminum_radi ator_fan_combo+289_engine_coolant_flow.jpgTrue
