Anyone who has done a 26 spline input shaft.
What tool do I need to measure the input shaft to see if it needs shimmed?
Thanks

When I installed mine I was told by D&D that they just use a dial indicator on a stand. I have one and we just matched the end play to the same spec as the stock 10 spline one.
???????????? that is how you can realy screw things up. look it is real simple press your new barring on and install it. there is no shimming. If you would like pull the trans bring it down here (empty of oil please) I will install it for you. or just call me and Ill walk you threw it. I did mine, brads, steves, andy( at this time) Travis and a few others it is real simple

Thanks for the link.
Did you have to shim yours or did it match without one?
I understand some have to shim and some don't.

Mine didn't need shimmed as the end play was the same. Most end up this way but it really should be checked.

I figure Liberty Gear and D&D say to check the end play for a reason. You know me I will check it ten times. LOL
Did you use an clutch alignment tool?
I hear some just use the input shaft as an alignment tool.

I installed the clutch first, then installed the input shaft so I used that to line it up.

That will be my plan. Did the shaft come with the bearing pressed on?

I pressed the bearing on at work. You can get it pressed on for free most times if you ask.
I did mine at centerforce, no shim needed. I also used a liberty Gear unit. Bob Cosby, (his name is pretty well known in the modular world) told us just to toss it in with no adjustment needed LOL! So we did and its perfect. My unit already had the bearing installed. I know of 10 people that have tossed in the Liberty unit on modfords without checking endplay, broke7 for one.

I understand most people don't need a new shim, but it seems like a few do.
This guy did.

I just don't like doing extra work so I will check it while it is out.
