Ok so i run a 99 gt and have a automatic with overdrive. So when i hit 4th my accel pretty much dies compared to the lower gears, what kind of options do i have to get that 4th gear accel up?
Whats done: 01 bullit motor w/ bullit heads (3 angle valve job), diablo chip, CAI, UD pullies, TB and Plenum, MAC LT's w/bassani x-pipe and flowmaster 40's back, 4.10 gears, full length subframe connectors. (also just got new timing chain, waterpump, timing guide, upper and lower gaskets, and thermostat)
Accelerating hard in O/D is overall a bad idea for automatics. There really isn't anything you can do beyond a power adder as far as adding noticable power.

Well if thats the case, should i start with nos and then go to a supercharger? or just wait and go with a supercharger?
If you put a power adder on your car then let it shift into overdrive while under full power you can plan on picking up transmission parts off of whatever road you are on.
That will depend on if he does anything to the tranny or not.

What do you suggest the next step is?
If you want power in 4th gear get a car with a manual. Then you are going to run into the same problem in 5th gear. Overdrives are designed for gas mileage, not for making power.

Could i swap out a manual into mine?

Sweet which tranny would you suggest? a stock cobra tranny? or a five speed from a gt?
Its completely up to you. I personally like the 6 speed over the 5 speed. They are built better and have fewer problems.

Cool cool, now sorry for all the ques. but i got one more. is this something i can install myself? or do i need to take it to a shop? I just did the rear end of my stang so i have a general knowledge but just wondering?
You will need the wiring harness for the swap, a different drive shaft, tranny, and a tune.

alrighty shop it is... thanks for all the help
It all depends on what your goals with the car is. If its a dd occasionaly track car then I wouldnt go through the hassle. If its gonna be a drag car, stay auto, road course, go stick.

Ok so new question... ive been out of town, but i remembered today that i have a Performance Automatic PA53101, now it is capable of holding up to 450hp now with the type of nitrous shot i wanna run it wouldnt be anywhere near that number, now my question is...does your previous statement about transmission parts being on the ground still apply?

ok so i guess my question would be what the difference would be from say 50hp from nos or 50hp from other parts cuz at the end of the day its still 50hp right?
