So I've decided to go with a Stage 5 port combo on my Cobra. I thought this would compliment the stroker and give the black dragon a few more hp's!
For supporting mods this is what I have on order right now:
40A KB Boost-a-Pump
JLT High Boost CAI
What I know I need:
60lb Injectors
SCT MAF (2600/2800?)
A few questions:
1. Which MAF do I need? They say 2600, but I see some people running a 2800?
2. What is a fuel pressure sensor protector (steggy recommends this and I know I'll ask them but thought I'd throw it out there)
3. Anything else I'm missing??
I want to buy all the supporting mods and have them ready for the blower to come off in the next few weeks.

kenne bell makes the frps saver. i have one. its literally a little tiny disc that goes under the sensor. its rather cheap too. the rest sounds good. i have the 2600 maf on my car and it worked out just fine when devin tuned it. though i would call him and double check to make sure it will work on your setup since you will most certainly make more power than i do. i think you will be extremely happy with the gains from going the ported route. :woot1:
btw- the only other thing i might suggest is the reichard racing blower spacer. i know if you read on svtp and what not that its a waste, but i have it on my car, and devin ran one on his ported setup and they have worked out well.
did you already order up the intake? because i found a much better option this week imo. turns out stage 3 has a cf intake they are making, and its cheaper too.

Ahh ok. So the 2600 should work- awesome. I'm headin down there on Wed so I'll go over it with D then.
From what I've read on steggy's website, you get better power gains from the under-hood non/shrouded cai then the fenderwell jlt like I currently have. T- is this the same thing you have? I thought yours was under hood but I don't remember.....

M- Good luck with that, sounds awsome! The car should be a beast. If you take it out on track day there won't be a second run for sure!

because nhra tech only allows vert's without a 6 point cage to run 13.50's...

Yea, I figure this will be the last planned major mod for this car. I say planned because I fully expect the stock IRS to probably let go at some point. I want to do the port, and change out the ic and coolant overflow's, different exhaust tips and be done. I'm just hoping the stroker holds up....there's been some terrible stories I've read lately about built termi motors.

Mainly because the fenderwell JLT has a smaller filter.

Nice pic of your setup, if I remember correctly your Termi isn't your daily driver, but do you have to worry about water injestion?

ANYTIME you have that kind of CAI, you have to worry about sucking up water, but realistically, it only from hitting large puddles or trying to cross these "Street rivers" you guys get out here.

Yea, I never drive my car in the rain and it's not a dd, and I figure if I ever got stuck in the rain I'd avoid the massive puddles and such. Oh well, a few more weeks and it comes off anyway. Guess I'll have a JLT for sale....
What do you guys think about boost gauges (pillar type) on a vert?
AZSonicSnake

never had a problem with the cai on my car, and i have gotten stuck in the rain a few times. i was thinking about going with the straight shot intake, but when i was shown how to convert the current intake i have into the high boost, i just stuck with it.
as for pillar pods in a vert,do it up! just be sure to buy the proper one. i would avoid the autometer pod like the plague. mainly because i know your a big dude and have big hands just like i do, and i clobbered the autometer triple pod my car had when i bought it. bought the speed of sound 2 guage setup and love it! thebest part is it looks completely stock, but yet has two guages.

I like the cobalt guages. They look awesome at night.

Thanks for the input gents! So for sure I'll go with the sos pod, as I like the hand clearance and look. What do you think of these gauges- I like the SVT logo and they don't have that "ricer" look at night:

They are made by "speedhut" and you can get both gauges for a little over 320 bucks.

So today I had my oil changed, fuel filter replaced and my new billetflow pullies installed, which look great. I also had PSR do a compression test on the motor and everything looks good- all cylinders measured close to each other. Gauges are ordered and the SOS pod should be here tomorrow. Then the blower comes off and causing the wallet to shrink more....lol.

very cool!! did you pick up a ported blower or are you sendning yours out?
BLK03SVT
03-18-09, 09:19 PM
I'm gonna send mine out. Sort of sucks because the car will be down for a while since I have to ship my blower, tb and pleunm there, 3-4 days turnaround for the port, then ship it back. I'm guessing it will take 2 weeks. I'm going to have Steggy paint it black, and I'm going to paint my coil covers to match. Should look pretty good when I'm finished!
