Well the time has come to replace my rear tires. These Hoosiers were good tires, they lasted me about 4k and that is with no burnouts so not a tire for a car driven too often.

I'm now looking for a tire that will give me descent traction but also last for a bit. I would also like something that could get me home if I were to get caught in the rain, preferably a 315 or wider. Not sure how much wider I can go though since I can barely fit my fingers between the irs and my current Hoosier.

Any recommendations?

Thanks,

Josh

ive heard the nitto 555R's are the best overall because they are pretty sticky but also last the longest out of most of the other DR's on the market

I would say Nitto's. I'm on my third set. Also they have changed the compound on the tires and they are definitely softer and stickier.

i just bought my second set of 315 nittos and they are great. and like jay said they do seem a lot softer and stickier.

Do they have anything wider than their 315? Or have they made it any wider? Based on the pictures I've seen of their 315 compared to all the others it's pretty narrow. Even my GS-D3's, which looked wider than my Hoosiers wouldn't hook up.

How many miles are you guys getting out of your Nittos?

Thanks

they have a 335 but thats only for 18 inch wheels. im not the best person to ask about the life of the tire. i find it hard to keep my foot out of it.

That's probably the way most are, but how many miles do you typically see with your more "aggressive" driving lol?

I'm assuming more than 4k

I just got Nitto NT01 315's and like them, but the price. So try the 555Rs like scubasteve suggested. Neither tire will hook up like your Hoosiers.

I tend to get 8k to 10k out of a 100 TW drag radial.

I got just over a little 10k on my last set of 555R's. They are a good tire. I ran them at the track a few times and they did alright if you heat them up. I liked them enough that I just had a set put on yesterday. :woot1:

Go with the Nitto's, and stay away from BFG DR's. They hook, but don't last very long at all. I'm on my first set of BFG's and like the way they hook, but with less than 1k miles they are showing their age, and that's with mild street driving.

very true...if ur lookin for a tire as a DD... like myself and a few others said go with the nitto 555R's but of course u cant really get the best tread life/hook up ability as a 50/50 combo so u have to pick one or the other but the nitto seems to be the closest to the middle....or u could go with street tires on one set of rims...DR's on another and all out slicks on another like myself but that is a pain in the A$$ which i am always stuck with my street tires lol

Nitto looks like it may be the way to go, I just wish they made a wider DR for a 17" wheel bc their 315 is so much narrower than my Hooier 315

I may just say f it and go with the Hoosier 335s... Decisions decisions

Really, how wide are your Hoosier 315's? My Nitto 315's are 12.5'' wide. How wide are your rims, the pic looks like a stock 17x9?

No, I have a 10.5" rear wheel, and the pics i've seen they look pretty small. My Hoosiers don't look wide but they are just about as wide as my GS-D3s were, maybe wider:

I'm not sure if the 18+" 315 is any different than the 17" Nitto 315 (if you aren't running a 17 inch tire that is) Maybe it's just the pics I've seen, bc if it's 12.5" wide then it should be about on track with most 315s I would think

Here is what my 315 GS-D3's looked like as far as width. Idk how these look in comparison to your Nittos but they just don't seem to look as wide as these DRs do for some reason, and again it may just be the pics:

I got 4k out of my nittos but that was with a few trips to the track and some bog boy burnouts. Im going with a 345 BFG. I dont have the stock rear in it. Im also on 18x10.5s, Im gonna have a buddy at discount tire mount them and see if they will even fit on the rim. If not Im gonna get mine widened.

I would think that all 315/35R17 are going to be real close to 12.5''. There should not be much difference. Here is a pic of mine, your right it doesn't look as wide. I can assure you it is. Don't be concerned about it, be concerned with a tire that will get you traction.

Here's a couple pics of mine: Don't really have the best angle.
