Has anyone done this? The only negative thing I've heard is that it can warp the plastic if it's in the sun too long.

Had it on two of my Mustangs and the corners of the lights warped because of the heat they trap inside the housing. Not sure what the solution is

But everything worked fine and the only thing wrong was a 2" dimple on the side of my tail lights. I think the look is worth the dimple...Especially on white!

I have the removable tint if that's what you are talking about. I took it off for the summer months, it goes back on when I clean the car next time.

Do you have a link? Sounds like a good idea.

I bught some tail light tint from Rvinyl.com, works great, and they are precut perfectly. Mke sure you dont do it on a windy day or else you will get little creases like i did lol. But it looks great, pretty dark during the day and still bright at night when you turn the lights on so it wont be hard for other people to see if your stopping or not.

yeah, i had mine clear coated. my painter put some black in the clear, and they are dark. honestly, a little too dark imo. if i ever have to do it again, i will get whatever overlays that imshakn has. those things look great, and plus they are removable.

here is what my clear coated lights look like...

Keep in mind if you get rear-ended with these dark tinted covers the liablity can fall back on you.

Last fall a woman rear-ended a ricer on the 101 and it was noted in the police report that she could not see the brake lights. The cop made note in the report of the dark tinted covers and after going thru the court process, the ricer was at fault.

If you search thru AZCentral you might still find the story

I tinted mine myself. I went to space age paint supply and told them what I was doing and they set me up with a black candy paint, and a good clear coat for less then $25. I only made mine a touch darker to take the brightness out of them and then I use a black reflector and untinted lenses for my corner lights.
