Hey guys,
Just wanted to post up that we finally got a chance to get to the track today at Quaker City Dragway in Salem, OH. This was our first track outing this year.
Three of us 'Steel City Terminators' went to burn up the track on a local club track rental day.
My first pass of the year with the newly increased power was, how should I say, dismal directly in part to the use of drag radials and a sticky on or off Centerforce DFX clutch. The clutch grips GREAT but it doesn't like to be slipped at all. I tried all sorts of tire pressure settings on the BFG DR's and it still wheel hopped so bad that I blew two runs since first gear hopped too bad to stay in it.
The other two guys were running the regular ET Street tires, the non radial type and they had no problems with traction. I chalked it up to yet another something that I will need before going back to the track to get some more practice.
My best today, after PJ let me borrow his ET Street tires(NO wheel hop with these tires, BTW) was 11.32@128. The MPH is there for a nice 10 second run, all I need is more practice and some good tires.
The other two guys have ported Eatons and were turning 11.70's at about 120mph. It was the first time out for everyone and we were all a little rusty. We plan on hitting a faster, lower elevation track in the fall for some better times. I want to run a 10.999999, or better and the other guys want an 11.499999 with their combos.
I am running 17# of boost on my Whipple and I am going to keep my new lower setup in the garage until I can run the number in this configuration. This should give me the inspiration to run the number!
