Just wanted to say, I just completed the 3G alt upgrade on my car to include adding the additional mega fuse and 4 gauge power wire. This mod was much simpler than everyone makes it out to be, or maybe I just got lucky :pepper: Anyway, if anyone needs help doing this don't hesitate to get ahold of me

Where did you buy your fuse. I have the upgrade with no fuse.

Fuse was a 200 amp stereo type fuse, cost for fuse holder and 2 fuses was around $20.

I got a nice 200amp fuse kit with 4g off ebay for really cheap when I did mine.

Trimming the bracket was the only thing I didnt like doing.

Trimming the bracket is probably the toughest part. It can be trimmed out quite nicely with an angle grinder and finished up with a dremel tool.

You can get the harnesses premade with fuses and any other harnesses that you need from rjminjection. Cost around 60.00 for both the battery harness with fuse and alternator harness.

sounds a little high to me. Just run the parts down yourself and you can keep half that amount in your pocket.

Yup, 3G conversion is a piece of cake on the Fox. Although I kinda cheated. I bought a PA Performance 150A 3G Small Case HO. No grinding required.

not having a fox I have heard about the upgrade, but this is the first that I have heard about the 200 amp fuse........ Is that really what they recomend?

A 3 foot section of 4 awg cable is only rated at 150 amps max fellas. You could take that length of 4 awg with its fuse and short out a good battery and the wire will melt before the fuse.

you lookin at 0 awg if you want something that will last more then 200 amps.

Hmmm, your probably right. I should step down my fuse to slightly higher than the alt output. More like a 150A fuse......

But wait, don't most car batteries throw down more than 200 amps??

yes and that is the point. The fuse is there to protect the wire. If the fuse is a higher rating then the wire can handle, your wire is now the fuse as it will glow bright orange and then start to smoke and melt, while the fuse sits unharmed.
