I got Sprint service with the Data share plan. I have a Blackberry 7130e that was given to me. My wife has a Palm Centro Smart Device and according to the paperwork it can do the same. The guy at the store said you couldn't use it as a modem unless you have a certain add on plan that is $40. I just tried it with mine and it works. Since in my plan its has unlimited data, do you think I will get charged extra? Cause if I wont then I will get rid of the net at the house and just use the phones. Are any of you doing something similar.

Ive done something similar with my Palm Treo and now I have a Verizon XV6800. As long as you have a UNLIMITED data plan you should be ok. I have used my 6800 for days at a time connected to my laptop and it worked great, although I must say that it isnt near as good as my Cox connection.

Good link http://www.rickysays.com/cell-phone-as-a-laptop-modem

I also have used a program http://www.junefabrics.com/index.php

If you dont mind a bug or 2 then these might be good alternatives for you. I couldnt give up my Cox connection for any Cell phone connection. I believe 3G is the best cell phones offer and Cable and even most DSL connections blow 3G away.

Im sure theres others that have more knowledge, I just added my 2 cents worth.

I was just able to use the Sprint Mobile Broadband connection wizard thing that was on the disk from the Palm. I tried it on both the laptop and desktop and seems to be working fine. I dont download very much and just basically surf the net and check my email. Thanks for you input, I just didn't know if they would charge me more cause I am doing it this way or not.
