View Full Version : Anyone Know Slicks/tire Combo, Or Have One For Sale???
Hey guys im wondering the backspace and tire sizes i can get away with on my 04 cobra with the 8.8 rear, and front runner specs also. ( i would like to avoid the spacers IF i can).
IF YOU ARE SELLING A SET I WILL TAKE THEM.......please no draglites.
I'm trying to get ready for the firebird on friday so i hope you are local, or have info so i can ship them from summit or jegs by then.
I have no idea if the 8.8 is a 99-04 or Sn95. if there is a way to tell let me know and i will check
THANKS FOR THE HELP!!

i have weld prostars 15x10 with 6.5" back spacing. i have gt rotors with cobra calipers on my 9" rear.
upfront i have 15x3.5 with i believe 1.5" back spacing. and i have a 35 mm integrated spacer for the front. I have to cut the non threaded part of the wheel studs for the spacers to fit.

i do
Hell if i know..... i bought it this way. how can i tell if i have GT rotors? are they a little smaller or something?
Wait....it must because my car was a C4 car with slicks on it...... im sure he would have had to change them to fit the rims he had on it before right?

I run a 15x10 with a 6.5 BS on a 98 width rear axle.
What we need to know is what front and rear size rotors you have.

I want to say the GT rotors in the rear are 10"
I have no spacers in the rear. Only the front.
Do you have longer studs?
ya i do have 3 inch arp studs i had waiting for my other car but as of right now they seem to be factory length up front and back..... cant i get away with running a diffrent spec. wheel up front so i dont need a spacer??
looks like i have 10" rear rotors.....haha i should have just looked, the brake dust covers are bigger than the rotors by about an inch!
So is that good....just order up 15x10's (6.5 BS) with a set of 28x11.5/15 slicks and they should slap on without a problem?

11.5's will be very close and may take a little "massaging" of the inner wheel well to fit. i went with a 10.5 for that reason. up fron you are basically stuck with a spacer untless you want to for over about 400 bucks a piece for the 17" alumistar fronts. and then you will pay a tonfor the tires for them as well.

some of the wheels have a built in spacer and are specially made for our car, like the ones i think bogart makes. otherwise, to fit a 15" wheel, your gonna need a spacer of some sort. i ended up using a 3.5" stud and a 3/4" spacer to make my welds fit. and even at that i had to massage the brake pads down a little since the caliper still barely grazed the wheels.
i see that this can be a project if you haven't done this before.
the inside of my inner rear tubs are all mashed in .....i noticed that last night when i measured the rear rotors. so if an 11.5 width didnt fit i would be surprised.
did you guys run into problems clearing the rear exhaust tailpipes with the tires? mine look like they had been rubbing/melting the tires at some point, but only about the size of a quarter shiny circle with a rubber ring around it is all.(its a flowmaster catback)....i think thats why jeff goes 10.50's.....that ol' 5.0 flowmaster sound gets you ATLEAST 1.5 sec. quicker down the track. EASY.

If it is a pre 99 rear you may have some rubbing issues. I had to have the tail pipes modified with the 10.5 slick.

i have no tailpipes just turn downs. so i can't help there.
i just bought the roush side exhaust from stage 3 so i will just have to take off the tailpipes....the rest will be coming out any day now anyways.
