What kind of gas do all of you put in your cars? It seems like the prices are going up every couple of days!

Thanks:flamegun:

I've been putting in 92 Octane until this last tank. This last tank I got gas at Costco and it was 89 and the car is pinging real badly. The owner manual suggests nothing lower than 93 however it's hard to get 93 anywhere and 92 is already expensive! Hope its ok!

Usually get gas at QT on Bell and CC 92 Octane!

The daily driver get's the cheapo if that's cheap today 87 $3.95. The daily driver is a 2004 Crown Vic Police Interceptor color Black!

I have avoided doing the timing bump so that I can still run 87 if want in my 94gt. I like to try and put in at least 89 if my wallet can afford it. As for price I am not for sure but I thought I saw costco for under $4 a gallon a couple of days ago here in gilbert but that could have doubled by now.

Does anyone else notice better milage with the higher octane? I can sometimes see 2-3 mpg difference with 91 octane besides alot less pingin and such.

What is the reason the max octane here and in CA only 91?

I just had the Saleen dynoed and Rob stated that all the vehicles are tuned with 91 Octane. He did say that under presure the only fuel that didn't breakdown was Shell. He strongly recommends Shell and said that he has had bad experience with Chevron. If I stand corrected QT is part of Chevron as well.

i have been running qt in mine since day one. no issues with pinging or anything of the like. and i have abused my car quite hard at the track. chevron and texaco have merged, but other than that, qt does not have the same gas. as i have ran chevron and can tell ya, that stuff sucks ass. additives FTL!

91 octane in the 95 Mustang my 5.0HO won't run on nothin' less. The Jeep 5.7L Hemi takes 89 or higher only, I did run some 91 in it before the prices got too high and I notice the increase in milage. And the mini willys seem to run just fine on 87  Oh and btw, I run Arco fuel in everything cause they seem to have the lowest prices in my area of town, had no problems with their fuel.

Well guys, all of our gas comes from the same source. The tank farms on 51st and vanburen all house the same gas for the different companies. Here's how it works. It get's pumped into the farm from the same source. Then, the additives are mixed in, i.e. chevrons techron, or shells v-power. One of the tank farmers told me that QT's and Chevrones gas always tests better than any other companies. He told me run a tank of QT then run a tank of another brand and log my miles. Sure as shit, I got about another 3 miles per gallon with QT. He is not affiliated with any of gas companies either, he just works there.

I usually get the worse mileage with a tank of Shell gas.

I have had a couple bad tanks from my local arco, not sure if it is their tanks or not but I stay away from it myself....

ITs interesting how the stations are different around town, we should start a directory of safe gas stations since they tend to vary. I think the age of the station and the contition of the tanks makes a difference. I also had a friend that use to work at a gas station that said you should NEVER fill up if the tanker is there at the time filling the tanks as it stirs up all the sediment at the bottom as well as any water that might have entered the system and puts it in your tank then. Anyone else ever heard this?

Yes I've heard the same!
