Hood insulator removal question

I went to remove the insulator from the hood today to prep for the impending heat. There is a ground attached to it I assume because of the foil on the hood side of it. Do I need to reattach this ground strap or can I just jettison because the hood is fiberglass?

are you talking about the strap that connects to the insulator? if so, yeah, it just hits the can with the liner...
