well then. When? cause it is getting hot fast!
and jeff you have to go!
Anywhere except on 17..
How about Payson and north to Natural Bridge Park. They have a huge parking area and tons of ramadas to cook out at.
Or Surprise, Globe, Jakes Corner, and back....
Or Globe, Showlow, Heber, and back. Salt River Canyon is an awesome run.

Mr. Austin
04-17-08, 10:13 AM
i head up to payson about once a month and that would be a sweet drive with a bunch of mustangs and if we got lunch up there and head to cotton wood. that would be a great trip.

To Jerome is a fantastic road. But dont stop there, just keep heading on to Red Rock State park. Or just turn around at the bottom of the hill and head back.
How bout a trip to Tucson and Mt Lemmon. Now THATS a road.
El Jefe

Mt Lemmon is fun if theres no cars. With the weather getting hotter, more and more people go up there.

You'd rather do Mt. Lemmon than a Jerome run? Now granted, I have never driven Mt. Lemmon but from all reports of people who have driven it.... sure, it's better than going straight but anyone who has driven both runs reports that there is NO comparison, Mt. Lemmon isn't even in the same league as a run up Mingus Mountain.
Beyond that, it's true about more cars going out there in the warm weather and I know it is a very popular place for the dumb import scene around there..... I'm talking the really stupid ones who spend all their time street racing... making it unsafe, and meaning I'm not going near it if any of those groups are up there.
Just my 2 cents.

Jen just thinks Mt Lemmon sucks because it's so much further from her house!! J/K jen...
I say we do an over-nighter to Pinetop (through salt river canyon), have a huge steak dinner at Charlie Clarks, followed by a short walk to the teppanyaki joint down the street for some saki bombers, then cab it to the casino for some late night gambling and cocktails.
Or we could just do the Jerome run and not have huge hangovers....

I just spoke to Keith at Rim Country Mustangs and still no firm date, but May is still do-able. Overnight if people want or just one day too!! Might bew kinda fun to hang out for an evening up there!!

sounds very fun!! im excited! i need motor mounts and a fan before attempting that though.. while im at it an electric push fan =)

I did Mingus last Nov 4. Yes, its a GREAT road. No, the trip ISNT fun if you get jammed up behind RV or "granny" traffic. Parading in a line of cars at 20 or 30mph kills any potential fun of the road.
I havent been to Lemmon since May? 96 and I wasnt driving. Im going back, however, Sunday, May 4. Everyone is invited. Check my "Road trip" post in the Wild West forum.

Push fans are nowhere near as effective as a pull through fan. So revisit that idea.

Hey now, watch it mister! Besides, pending funding... I'm definately going to need SOMETHING to celebrate the end of schoolwork and finals this semester. What better way to do it than a nice fun cruise with all you great people? lol

Sounds like a good time! And yes, overnight does sound cool too if we could find a place to stay that won't kill us poor people on top of gas prices.... plus, that means drinking time :icon_cool:

Suppose I'm just spoiled then... I live so close that I've done the run daily before with some friends. The trick is that you go at night around 9 or later so you miss most traffic and can have all the fun you want.... but if you can't make it at night, go during the week, middle of the day or early afternoon.
All of that aside, it's completely irrelavent because we will be traveling with a rather large group of mustangs so there is no room for anything beyond a pleasurable cruise with an awesome group of friends and car enthusiests. MUCH better senery then anything you'll find in Tucson anyway.
