I have an '03 Cobra that I Dyno'd the other day and I'm not sure if the car is running rich or lean. My air/fuel ratio went from 14.7 to 18+ around 4500 rpm. The only mods the car has is off road x-pipe and Bassani catback. I purchased an SCT XCal2 tuner. but haven't used it yet. Any advice on whats causing this and is it safe?:dontgetit:
WAY BAD.... It should be below 12 for safety. Get a tune on that thing pretty quick.

Thanks. But would that be rich or lean?
You are lean. Lean is bad. Rich is much better
Definetly not safe!!! Take your XCal-2 and Data-log the car. Enter in, coolant temp, intake air temp, MAF AD counts, RPM, spark, and load. Find yourself a good place to do a good 2nd. gear pull to around 5800 RPM, then shut it down. Don't forget to cancel your data-log, when you shut it down. Play back your data-log on live link, to see where everything is at. Another thing, you could dyno the car again on another dyno to see what you come out with there. It might be just a bad wide-band O2 sensor, at 4500 RPM your pulling pretty good on a dyno, your not at cruise speed to get a reading like 14.7, on your AFR. But to spike it like that, there's something definetly wrong with something. Data-log it first, to see what you come up with before you do anything drastic. After you data-log the car, post it, then we can all get a good look to give you a better idea, on what your next step should be. At 4500 RPM on a dyno pull, your AFR should be around 11.2 or somewhere in that neighborhood, Mike D. ( ITLRUN ) If you've never used an XCal-2 before, your going to have to get the vehicles strategy code. You can get that by plugging the XCal-2, into the ALDL port under the dash then scroll down til you see get vehicle strategy. It will be 7 digit, a combo of numbers and letters, just use the first 5 to configure your data-log. Let us know what you come up with, Mike.:2thumbs:

It is lean. Get a custom tune. My A/F is 11.8 across the WOT range.

Thanks for the advice. This is the best site I've ever joined. Everyone helps out.
I'll get it tuned at Amazon Racing this weekend. Hope they can squeeze me in.
If they can not fit you in. Try Performance Solutions or AZ Dyno.:icon_cool:

That's odd, you should not be seeing that happen, and if it did you would be in a lot of trouble. Are you sure they knew what they were doing? You don't have a wideband in your Cobra do you? 18+ is like completely lean, no fuel, your car will see a completely lean condition when you shift but will then drop to well under 12 at WOT. It's almost like they have something hooked up backwards lol and rather then going rich it's showing a lean condition. No motor could handle even one pull under any arf close to 18+ I wouldn't think???
Does the car seem to run differently when you get on it?
