'Sup fellas. I purchased a '92 lx not long ago with several mods. I'm currently working on suspension and want to finish the brake upgrades that were started. Anyone knows who makes a drum to disk conversion kit for a 'stang that has a 5 lug conversion already? I think the previous owner said he installed 1994 & up spindles front & rear. The front brakes are FRPP 13 in. w/cobra calipers-2 piston. Thanks.

Thanks, I just did. SSBC has a kit that might fit. Does SSBC make quality parts like FRPP, Baer, Willwood? Has anyone done the upgrade?

http://www.northracecars.com/Brakes.html Brackets for rear caliper brackets and I believe that they sell the whole package. Make sure that you get the correct ones, either bigger cobra discs or smaller GT discs. Make sure to use fox length axles or your wheels are going to sit out too far. Check out this site, lots of help. http://www.sn95brakes.com/ Also corral.net has a lot of info on the conversions. If you have any questions or want to take a look at mine give me a call.

Thats great info Rich, I used a complete swap from a 95GT on my 89. Pretty simple.

Using the 94 and newer axle assy is fine, the only problem that you could run into is that the newer axle track is wider and if you run anything bigger that a 8" wide wheel you have to go to a higher offset wheel so it won't rub the fenders. Same with the 96 and newer front spindles, the track is wider than using 94-95 spindles.

This is great information, thanks. The rear wheels sit well with the 94 spindles on. The axle will remain original.

 Rear wheels and spindles? I'm confused. Umm spindles are up front only, the disk hub mounts to them. I assume you meant front wheels. You mentioned your axles were converted to 5-lug already. I'm assuming the previous owner just swaped axles and drums to 5-lug. Like svtrichie already mentioned, contact the guys at www.northracecars.com (http://www.northracecars.com) and get their 5-lug Disk Conversion Kit Without Axles.

Edit: They call it their "Cobra" Kit.

This is just for informational/future reference. The length difference between 79-93 Axles(minus the 93 Cobra R with rear disc already) and SN95 axles is 25/32 of an inch. in the 8.8" rear housing. Or 29.1875 vs 29.96875 inches. Little more than 3/4 of an inch on each side. :icon_cool:

Sorry, I did mean spindles in the front. Your assumption about the 5 lug conv. is correct. I was told that I could not get just any kit since the 5 lug conv was already done. The choices I was given were a $1500.00 Baer kit, rear only, and a FRPP that would swap 5 lug axles.

From what I've read, all I need is for it to say "rear disc kit" and come with brackets. ..right?? I'm kinda dumb...well, I'm dumb when it comes to mechanics from lack of exposure.

Oh, in that case, yes the "rear disk kit" I pointed out above is what you need.

Basically all you are doing is swapping the Drum setup to a Disk setup since the 5-lug axles are already installed.
