I was hoping to get some feed back on Synthetic Oil.
#1 Is it better than reg oil for your mustang?
#2 If it is better than how so?
#3 And If Mustang owners are using synthetic than when did you start using it with your mustang? Did you start using it when it was new? Or if you bought your car used how many miles on the car when you started using it?

I have heard that if you start using it after too many miles than it is just better to use reg oil.
Any how I hope to get some feed back here, thanks.

1. Yes for performance applications
2. Better lubrication and breakdown properties
3. After break-in of the motor I went to synthetic. I went to synthetic on a higher mile 5.0 years ago and it burned more than dino oil so I went back to dino on that car.

It all comes down to how hard you are on the car. I run dino oil in my wifes bone stock GT and Mobile 1 synthetic in the Cobra.

I am not too hard on the car right now. Just my occasional need for speed. I am not intending to drag at speed world with it for now though. The car has 15k miles on it. So do you think that there would be any benefit for me to start using it based on how I told you I use the car?

Personally I would just stay with a quality conventional oil and change it on schedule, but 15K isn't too many miles to switch to synthetic.

I think I will stay with conventional oil. I think that is good advice. If I was to run the car hard than I also see advantages to Synthetic oil but for the most part just driving normal. The cost is also a factor if you drive hard than you may want to pay more for synthetic but why pay more if there is no need for it. I had an F150 6 cyl that ran on normal oil with normal driving habbits for 230K miles and still ran fine until the day I sold it.

Thanks for the reply to the post it was very informative.:veryhappy:

Usually on higher millage cars the synthetic softens the seals up and they tend to leak.

I've ran Mobile 1 synthetic in my Mach 1 since I bought it used with 13,000 miles. I did just recently buy a case of the Lucas Synthetic oil though, gonna see how it works.
