I have a 2000 GT with cold air, pro 5.0 shifter and am going for gears next. The gears are stock and I am trying to decide what to put in. I still need gas mileage but want to livin it up a little. what do you guys think? 3.73s or 4.10s? I know 4.10s would really give a good kick but would it sacrifice my mileage?

Your probably best with the 3.73s if mileage is a concern.

mileage is a concern but Do you know how much it would be affected by 4.10s? Will 3.73s be a noticible change?

I believe they are 3.27s. I am not 100% sure though.

3:73 is a nice street strip gear.
Take a look here and you can calculate what RPM you will tach at with various gear and tire ratios.

3.27 is the stock gearing on our gt's. I say go with 3.73's thats what Im about to put in my car:yes:
you could always go with 4.10s and a taller street tire, and a shorter track tire.

+1 to fazm's comment, you could run a taller tire, but if you go F/I then I would probably go no higher than that
its what i do. im concerned bout gas mileage.
3.31s and 27.5" tire for street and 26" dot slick for the track.
best of both worlds :)

I am running 315\35 17. I dont really go to the track. I just play around on the street.
373's worked nice for me:bouncy:

eh, myself personally, i'd go with 3.90s. great street and track gear. as far as mpg change, it would depend if u do alot of freeway or in town driving. in town, u really won't see a change with 3.90s, freeway you will maybe see 2-3MPG change. with the 4.10s, ull see a slight increase from the 3.90s, but not by much.

I have 3.73s and it was a night and day difference from the 3.55s I had....

Ive always heard that 3.73's are better for 5 speeds and 4.10s are better for automatics.

If anything its the opposite.

oh really?? well yeah 4.10 will all out raise the acceleration over 3.73 but i mean for the health of the car. am i right?

A built auto does not benefit from a low gear like a stick does.
