We have started a new west side (Phoenix) Mustang club. One that will not compete with Copperstate Mustangs (not that we could). . .but hopefully one that can compliment.
Since Copperstate is mainly an East Valley club we are starting a west side one for those of us that want to be more involved with our cars.
Anyone interested please drop me a note!

Here is our site.. .although it is not ready for public viewing, what the hell. Very rough draft site. ..heck even our Art is not spelled correctly. Although our actual art is coming.

I wish I had see it? I cruised in (in and out in 5 minutes) to hand say hi to a couple of guys and didn't get to see much.
I'd like to get the word out Saturday (Ford show) but out of respect for Copperstate. . .I won't poach. But if you come out, say hi!

True dat. . .
What's all of your opinions on an all Ford Club vs. just Mustangs? Since we are in the starting stage, half our club is open to all ford. It seems there are A LOT of mustangs on the west side, so members shouldn't be an issue.

How did your meeting go ?????? Are you going to be a Mustang, or All Ford Club? Lots of nice Fords on the Westside!
FYI Wild West Mustangers, Pioneer Ford will be having its Second Annual Tricked Ponies Show Jan 13. Might be a good place to show up in mass, maybe do some talking and see if they would be intresteed in sponsering you.
Blown66
11-11-07, 10:39 PM
Nice timing. :)
I met with Pioneer a week ago and he invited me to their show meeting (yesterday). We are now a part of their great show, and they want to sponsor us. :) We'll help out any way we can, and in fact we'll be adopting their charity as our own as well.
As for our meeting. . .damnest thing. I went in fully expecting to end up being an all Ford club. The guys that wanted to do it, during the discussion they ended up convincing each other that we should stick to just Mustangs? I have no idea. lol
Bottom line. . .we are just Mustangs.
AZSonicSnake
11-11-07, 11:40 PM

BTW if your question was a real one. . .that is a question we need to work through. We currently have a member building a 67 Fastback and he drives a 67 Cougar. . .so I am guessing as long as your intent (building a mustang) is there, then yes.
Yeah it was a real one. I just got the '89 home last night and tore the valve cover off. (Yes one cover its a 4 cylinder car). Everything looked very good actually. I will try to get it to start at some point this weekend just to see if it will run. But still a lot of hours to invest in it before its street worthy.

We have had several meetings and formed the foundation of what we are looking for in a club. Dues were set. . .but after hearing how a club does theirs in California I will be readdressing that issue with the club. We have a sponsor, so that's a major step.
What do you have to do? Show up...be a good person and a club member that will move the club forward. Do you have to go to every meeting, every event? Nope.
Again the holidays and our association with the car show coming up this Sunday have taken a toll on the forward progress of the club, but I suspect after Sunday we will be very full steam ahead.
Hope to see you there!

the AMP window sticker is gone now but i do have a stage 3 motorsports banner on my windshield. thats kind of an old pic but still.
i do have quite a few mods: long tube headers, off road h-pipe, magnaflows, k&n intake, 4.10 gears, some body work done, and a bunch of other stuff.
but im hoping i can enter the 05-08 convertible class so i dont have to compete against nancy. lol.

01-09-08, 08:22 AM
That's why I asked. . .and is the big question right now in that how many mods are okay for judging and classification? I've read so much crap on this. . .people in here suggested three, we went with 5. . .but it's still up for debate. In fact that is one thing we are going to discuss tonight.
As they get more cars in the upcoming years they'll have more classes...they expanded the classes to almost double from last year. But even should a basic stocker that has wheels, tires, stereo, stripes, wings, grill go against a car that has 20 mods?
AZSonicSnake
01-09-08, 05:31 PM
i know thats on thing that i liked when i first joined copperstate, they had a point list that you filled out, and certain mods carried far more weight than others. like my car for instance, i have a ton of mods on it, but unless you crawlin under it, you see none of them. i have done strictly performance stuff. otherwise my car looks stock from the outside. i think making things like body kits, video, and hoods and so forth making a bigger difference to what class you put someone in.

Okay opinions from some (you guys) that don't have a horse (pun intended) in this race. Should 1971-73 be judged in with the 60's and 1970, or should it go with the small number of cars we'll get to 1993?
Should it be 1971-1986, 87-2004 if we only have two classes? The biggest problem is we really could end up with 2 1971+ cars if we take it to 1986.
Opinions...

hpmotzd
01-10-08, 02:08 PM
personally I dont think you can have the 60's models with the post '70 cars. Almost a totally separate animal. At the same time you dont want another class with only 2 cars, so if anything, I would add them to the later models rather than the earlier. Just my opinion.
I think we should see if we cant add ourselves to the movie night on feb 23rd, sounds like fun.

dunno if i would split the foxes up though, i would do like 71-93. and thena seperate class for 94-04. and i think the early 70's stangs should go with the 60's class. otherwise i think we'll get some un happy campers. just my .02 though. i like the idea of adjusting on the fly. as you sometimes never know what will actually show up.

Is he right...should he come down? Or is the placement just an opinion and everyone has one?

Going back reading this entire thread, Im STILL bugged I missed out on the "genesis" of this. But, it helps me get a grip on how things started. Im surprised to see how "new" some of the members are. Now that show season is here, things are going to get moving. Im excited.

"Im STILL bugged I missed out on the "genesis" of this."
How do you mean? Like more imput at the start or what?
I mean technically this will be our "3rd" actual meeting despite us meeting 3-4 times late last year. So that kinda accounts for the "new" members. I actually consider or meetings last fall to be more of a meet, greet and what the hell do you want to do meetings...

Just being there from the beginning. Im anal like that. I dont like missing out on things or not knowing whats happening. And I guess its that I was "around" but didnt know what was up. I saw you at the GCC show. Were you at the Sanderson show as well? All I knew was, "Hey, that dudes car is bad azz". And then not getting in on the game sooner when Tricked Ponies happened. Its like walking in on a movie 15 mins after it started knowing that if you had only turned the TV on sooner you wouldnt have missed anything. But, Im here now, so it is what it is.

Better late than never I always say, and I'm with you, this is going to be a great year of friends, cars, and carshows. :laughing1:
I am up for the fun! I think that Wild West Mustangs fill's a need for a club on the west side and that is a good thing. I feel as though we are still comming in on the ground floor here. The members that are already involved are very kool and the more members the more fun and the more events that can happen.
Kenny I was going to ask you the other day (but I forgot) who actually started Wild West?

Hey is there a chance we could contact the peoria police to see if they want to show at Friday night? Just a thought...
FalconGTHO
03-10-08, 10:57 PM
Sure, why not? I cant see why they would say no to having a DARE car or something out there. It would give them another chance to collect for their Special Olympics charity drive. Same thing for Peoria Fire. In fact, Peoria Fire is having a show at the Sports Complex on Apr 13. So, like the police, having them out there would be a chance for them to recruit for the show and their charity as well.

With the number of mustangs in this country I can assure you that only a small percentage of owners participate in any type of forum, but CMC and WWM are slowly increasing participation.

First off this site is run on vbulletin software (Not Free).
vbulletin is the best and most supported forum software available.
It's all just learning, but every page on this site is fully integrated.
Every page has the upper nav bar on it regardless of where you are so a newbie will never be lost.
Unlike some of the other sites out there if someone has a question about using this site they will get an answer with detailed instructions to make their time here more enjoyable.
There is also some helpful info in the Website Announcements /Suggestions / Questions forum.

My ONLY other issue is I'd like to post a lot of pics on my "profile". I may be able to do that already...but I don't know. A lot of the lack of forum participation is generational. Those who arent involved with doing "computer stuff" anyway wouldnt be on the net in that fashion. An example is Craig. I mentioned the "email chat" that was going on and how a sounding board on the second My Space would be useful. To paraphrase him, "Ehh, I dont mess with any of that computer stuff. Im good enough getting my email, thats all I need."

My first public post and I'm still having trouble navigating this site!
Luck on setting up a new club; with an "All Ford Car Club", rather catchy I should say, you could forego the problem besetting Tucson's Southern Arizona Mustang Club. At one time we accepted ALL car shows as a possibility to attend and the club was behind any and all member entrys. As time has passed, we've become too mutual exclusive in that if any year Mustang is not accepted for show registration, the club will not sanction that show or back any entrys. The Show Low Still Cruisin' Show this June and The Run to the Pines in Pinetop this Sept. have fallen to unsanctioned shows
(I go to them both, anyway!), whereas we should be going all out for good in-state shows. Much is the loss of SAMC!
Keep motoring with those Fords, guys and gals!

There seems to be some confusion here, 1- we already have a club name, Wild West Mustangs, 2- we are a mustang owners club not an all ford club, although we do have a member who owns a couger and not a mustang, 3- We have been around for a while, not just starting up. Hope this clears it up.

Rev'n Kevin

What is a IK trip? As for the gun, your guide will have a rifle, it takes a pretty good size one to take down a bear, and being under 18, there is no permit you can get in Alaska to carry. Trust your guide.
Mr. Austin
05-09-08, 08:20 AM

Well let's see, we had our July meeting, Sat there was a cruise to Tortilla Flats, we have a cruise-in every friday night @ 91st and Northern, best place to get updated info would be http://wildwestmustangs.blogspot.com/

The weather has been a main factor as far as DJ'n the Fri-Nite Cruise-in, the heat and now the moisture in the air is not good on the equipment. Also, I will be out of town for the month of August. We'll see what happens when I get back, there's some things going on that I don't wish to make public at this time, but lets just say my Wife's needs come first.

Well, it looks like you all have been pretty busy over the summer. This particular string hadn't had a posting for a month or two, so that's what gave me that mistaken impression. I'll check out the other link you gave me. Looks like mostly late model Stangs here, but I see there are some members who appreciate the old iron too. Anyhow, I'm looking forward to any local cruises or cruise-ins. I was a member of the Copperstate Mustang Club for a long time but finally threw in the towel due mostly to east side events/focus. I did their newsletter for several years, and have a lot of friends in that group still. But I'm ready to meet a new group of Mustang enthusiasts, especially if the activities and meetings are in the neighborhood! Thanks for the warm welcome!

You are incorrect sir. :)
We are actually 50% 1971 or older and 50% the other direction.
Copperstate is a great club, it's like you said though...to far for west siders. So it made sense creating something out west. I hope you swing by to one of our meets.

i am sad (cause i love your current mustang...) but super stoked about you coming to the Old car side. ! i cant wait to see what you find! insurance will be sooooooooo much cheeper even if you dont pick up vintage car insurance. are you looking for a bone stock, light mods or total restomod? what year/body style?

I love her too, but this econmy is killing me. LOL. I would prefer to find a 69 only because that was my first Mustang but am looking for anything up to a '70. I want to build it for muscle so any mods already done are fine and would rather do that to one that hasnt been kept to original. you are right, the insurance will be a lot cheaper and i wont have the payment which means more money to put into an older one. I am hoping to be able to pay cash for an older one and take my time building her. I do however, want to find one that is running so i can drive it while I take my time putting her together, kind of like what you are doing.

I hear ya! the eco isnt even suppose to turn around till end of this year and others say like half way thru 09 if we are lucky! you have the right idea buying outright! make sure you have a second driver. i am saving up for a lil pick up truck or some little part getter.
OOOO! and your tags/reg will be cheeper too! i could pay aprox 25 dollars for just plain plates....for two years... but its like 80 or so all said and done with her plates now. we have enough know-how between everyone in the club to give ideas!
another (silly) plus to old cars... if anything catastrophyic happens, you computers wont be scrambled in you old car!

I still have my truck, so i am ok there. My car isnt my daily driver so its just excess that has to go right now. There are a lot of cost savings to doing this and I will definately be picking everyones brains for ideas and help. I hate having to sell her, but at the same time, this will be a good, fun alternative.

Wow, changes abound. Sorry to hear youre forced to sell Bryn. And as for Kev, thats an even bigger shock considering all youve done and talked about doing.

Not really that big of a shock, I've done about everything you can do to a 95 GT Conv., and now I pretty much can't get out of it, what I've got into it, so why do more. I've always had older muscle cars and I just would like to get another, like I said I'm going to be very picky, when the right one comes along, I'll get it, in the mean time, I will continue to enjoy my GT, and when someone offers me the right price, well say-la-vee.

Kev what ever happened to the white mustang you were seeking it didnt look like a bad car?!? i remember you talking about you going to get one did the deal fall through?
Seems like alot of people that I know are getting more afordable rides. Good luck to all of you looking for new direction. I may just look for a 69 or 70 also.:hi:
How was the Tortilla Flats run? I wish that I could have come; sounds like it was fun. What other events are planned for the club these days? I see that there is the Wild West shootout on Oct 11. Just 1 day after the B-day sounds like a blast.:woot2:
