BTW, if ya'll have not figured it out yet, I don't know that much about cars. The basics, yes, but that is it. So, is there anything that I need to do to the tranny in order for it to handle the power and not crap out on me on the first run? The same goes for others components.

thx....txbkr

Kenne Bell kit hands down.

We've done numerous of them on the S197s.

Our most recent one went 12.02@ 118.9MPH with the 4inch pulley, which is 7-8PSI peak.

I will say this, the whipple on the 05+ does have a very clean install.

But over all the KBs run cooler discharge temps. And thus make more power and will last you longer in terms of power out put.

Another alternative is a ProCharger. Makes good power also. If your interested in a kit let me know :)

+1 on the Whipple and Performance Solutions Racing. Devin and Shane did a great job on the install and tune.

I'm with you Eades! Now that I have a Turbo car I can actually drive, I'll never do any other power adder again!

Hmmm, I guess I'm a bit old school. I've done the bolt ons, added a mild cam, a tune, and hoping for mid 12s in a few weeks. I'll save over the winter for ported heads, get another tune, and see what I got in the spring. A buddy of mine has a NA S197 and if it's cool this Friday he's going to try for 11s. I'm not sure but he may be the first if he pulls it off.

There's instant gratification with a S/C or turbo, but something about doing adding parts-->dyno-->racetrack test and tune-->repeat that appeals to me...

I hope your joking about the turbo because Vortech is a Gear driven, centrifugal supercharger....................

LOL that wasn't directed at the vortech. Yes I had a vortech before and know it has a belt.

It was directed at the lack of blower love due to all the turbo worshipers.

I ran a Vortech for 6 yrs....then swapped
I cant belive I waited so long...no worshipers just hard facts.

Free power is good power, and the OODLES of TQ and no belt slip is nice also. (yes i said oodles haha)

I have no 1st hand with Roots blowers but I will tell you I dont miss my Vortech one lil bit.

Out of curiosity, how much would heads & a cam cost and what would be the HP gain. The cam would be a mild one.

LSlayer
11-20-07, 07:44 PM
A good set of heads and cams may net you bout 40-50 rwhp and run around 2800-3000 without a core charge(I think). Those prices are based off what livernois charges for ported 3V heads. FRPP 3V heads are somewhere around 1300 and no core charge. Not sure how much they will net you on a N/A setup but the showed a 30~ rwhp gain on a centrifugal setup.

OK, OK OK. So how 'bout this, at the present time I don't have all the $$ for Whipple, (family emergency) but I want more power NOW!!! So, I'll take the 'stang to PSR get a cam and a bad ass tune first. Then, in a few months, I'll have the $$$ for the Whipple and get it too. Whaddaya think!? That on top of a full exhaust system should yield me....what 450??? A wise decision for a daily driver?
