07 Gt Mustang struts

I just changed my springs in front. My question is: When I was putting the struts back in I noticed a V notch in the top edge of the bearing plate with an arrow. What is this for? And does it need to point somewhere? The struts just went back in easily. I couldn't seem to figure out any difference in it........thanks:highfive:

FYI: Well I went out and put HOSS on the lift and pulled the tires in front. I shined my flashlight up into the strut well and by some strange stroke of luck both struts had the arrow(notch) pointing OUTWARD. The odds of 4 to 1 I guess. I may have another issue with the shimmy....So it goes and goes and goes...................
