View Full Version : Need Good Body Shop in Phoenix Area
So, I backing into my parking stop at my apartment complex when I got home from work today and I got a little too close to the concrete pillar that stands right next to my spot in the underground parking. Nothing major just a small tap at the drivers side rear wheel, right where the bumper meets the quarter panel. Got a little of both sections, some very small pitting type dents in the quarter panel right the edge, scratching all the way down to the metal / plastic. Try to get some pictures up in the morning.
Still can't believe it happened. As soon as it did happen I got that rock in the stomach feeling, where you would give almost anything to go back in time just 30sec and re-do what just happened.
Anyways, what are some good body shops that everyone trusts to do a good job? And any estimate as to what is may cost to fix? I know it's kinda hard without pictures right now, but just ballpark. I wanna get it fixed asap because just the idea of my car sitting down there with a scare like that is plaguing my mind.

Lovett's is really good. I got the Firebird fixed there. It was super cheap and I loved the job they did.

Fat Alberts on 19th ave and Deer Valley. We use them for our painted body kits and parts. Call and ask for Brian or let me know and I might be able to get you a deal.
For many years I've used Kustom Koachworks in Tempe on 3rd St. a block east of McClintock. Check out their website. http://www.kustomkoachworks.com They are very good and have excellent credentials. Ask for John Shira. He'll make sure you are totally satisfied.

Sorry to hear about your Car Ernie. I did something very similar to my '88 GT when I was backing up on the driveway to change the oil. Get several estimates, talk to the shop people, get a feel for what they are thinking, and go with you gut feeling about who is going to do a quality job.
Ok, here are pics.

Ethan, tried going by there today without realizing they are closed saturdays, probably should've called first. If you talk to Brian anytime soon, let me know what they can do.

Yes, I'm still a member, just sent in my registration for the March show this last week. I will see if I can drag myself out of bed that early on a sunday and make it out there.

What's the name of Dan's shop? Been trying to find it online, I've found a few in the area, but am not such which it is.

I'm not sure which one you mean, if its Dan Martorano he has a shop at 40th and Broadway, but I really think you need a professional body shop to do that work.

Ok, maybe I'm the one that's confused, I was under the impression Dan's shop was a body shop.
Any how, one of the CMC members told me to check out Arizona Auto Touch-Up, Inc. The wife had the day off today so I sent her down there with the mach. Got quoted $650 for the repair and it would take 3-4 days to do. Does this seem right? I know body work is always expensive, but it's not even 6 square inches that needs to be re-done. Still gonna try elsewhere, but this is my starting point.

that does not sound too far off. i had showcase auto body do a repair on my mazda, and it turned out incredible. and it was a small dent that was about 2 inches, and it cost me 300 to have it fixed. body work can be spendy. thats for certain.
Quotes are free ... so check out a few places. My vote still goes to Kustom Koachworks. See my earlier post on this thread.

Their next on my list, gonna see if I can make it over there before they close one of the days this week.
Olivas - PM me and let me know your name and I will contact John Shira at Kustom Koachworks and advise him to give you the help you want on this.

PM sent.
Ok, so I sent the wife out to get a couple more quotes Friday while I was working. This is what we got:
Kustom Koachworks - $1129 - want to replace the quarter panel, had trouble with their system in locating Mach specific parts and color, only could locate GT blues. This makes me nervous. But had really good customer service.
Elite Collision Center - recommended by a co-worker - $1429 - also want to replace quarter panel. Not the best on service, but didn't state anything about having trouble in locating the quarter panel for the mach or the proper paint color.
Corona's Auto Body (little mexican shop toward downtown on Washington) - $500 and they'll have it back in 2 days. Wife previously had her Nissan repaired there after someone backed into it and didn't get too much from insurance.
Not feeling Corona's, don't want a rush job, rather have it done right. But if this is going to end up costing over $1000, I may just turn in into my insurance and pay the $500 deductable. Anybody know how that may effect my rates? Have a completely clean record right now, no tickets, accidents, or other claims within the past 5 years.
My 2 cents worth ... but keep in mind this may not be what you would do. I would ignore the whole insurance thing and find a way to pay the whole bill. Get it done by whomever provides the best guarantee. That's how I would do it, but then again, I have $$$ put aside for things like that.

Never said that I didn't have the money for it. Who doesn't have an emergency stash, but as much as I love my car, this isn't big enough to qualify for such.
There's one more place I want to checkout before I make a decision. Exclusive Paint and Body - Scottsdale Rd. & Curry Rd. - from the Copperstate parts and services directory, anyone have any experience with these guys.
I think I might know a place that could fit the bill. Good work fair price.Let me check with a friend tomarrow, and I'll let you know. Form the looks of the pics I don't see why you need to replace the quarter panel, but it may be alot worse in person.
OK, back with more. Exclusive - Tracy was nice and was straight forward with me. Because of the color (azure blue) he was too sure he could get a perfect match on the repaired section. Said he would do it if I really wanted him to and he would do the best he could to blend it all in, and it would run approx. $500. Actually, recommended that I take it to a dealer.
On that note went by the CMC sponsor today, Berge Ford. And, surprisingly their quote went right down the middle of everything I have already received - $870.
So, I think we have a winner. Nobody knows better than the dealership for repairs, right?? (I hope anyways). Now just gotta figure when I can get it in.

IMO, I feel Berge treats the customer with the respect they deserve and they do a good job and make sure your happy with it, I have only had one newbie just piss me right the hell off and I ended up squeeling my tires of of there. His face was pure white lol. But the service mgr said he would take care of him. Other than the newbie, there service is great for sure, I give them a two thumbs up
